JO/JA Editing Resources
2004-09-08, 6:22 PM #1
Same deal as in the JK Editing forum, but for JO/JA instead.

I would like to put together a sticky thread for this forum that contains usefull links to JO/JA editing tutorials, tips, resources (textures, prefabs, etc), and anything else that editors could find useful. What I need from you guys is links to add to the sticky thread. So post away, anything you think that anyone else could find usefull.

I will append the texture resources thread with the new information when I have enough to make a good list.

This would be very helpful for those who want to use GTK Radiant 1.5.0... so they wouldn't have to de-grade to version 1.4.0. :p

This would be helpful for me too, as after a two-year hiatus I feel inspired to try and start editing again. Sadly, I've forgotten 99% of what I learned. :(

Hey all. I've been a member for a while, but never really said much, if at all. But now I'm trying to get into mapping for JA. I want to make multiplayer maps, but when I compile them for testing, and run them in JA/Multiplayer, most of the textures don't work and I just see glowing white lines over black backgrounds. Does anyone know where I could get a GTK-1.5 tut. for JA multiplayer map making?
Is it ok if I frag you?

You use /sv_pure 0 in the console. Or fix you .pk3's

I'm not sure how pertinent this is to this particular thread; hopefully enough so that nobody has to delete the post. (I'll have no problems if it comes to that.)

In light of the recent lack of functioning webpages that offer RichDiesel's tutorials, (and to save beginners the trouble of looking up the "*whistles*" thread each time,) I present to ye my collection of the tutorials.

http://sparrowhawk.dubl3.com/rdtutorials.html

In advance, I apologise for the fact that the documents will not link to each other because of the way I saved the files. At least they are all there, and isn't that what matters.

Apart from that, they are presented in their original form, free of any such editing on the part of myself or any other. They are and continue to be the intellectual property of the one known as RichDiesel. As such, the availability of this download is captive to his will.

I'd like to be able to play through the JO levels as my JA character. I DO NOT want to recreate the game to post it online, I just want to do this for my own amusement. Is there a way to play through JO in JA? Or would it be easier to just make a Jaden skin and play through JO using a reskinned Kyle?
Your lack of faith disturbs me...

Why? Because the ability to play through in JO in JA seems like it might just be an editing issue...

RDtutorials.. I was wondering if it would be ok for me to mirror them? or if anyone knew how I could ask him... or if anyone would mind. I downloaded the files above and I think it would be useful for people if they had a mirror online for them.

would anyone object? or would this be a lost cause?

I believe RD can be contacted. Ask him.

As a general notice: If you have a question about editing, make a new thread. If you have a resource that you wish to share with the community, make a post in this thread. This is not a thread for questions.

since this is a thread about resources, i am asking a question about resources... would that work? Anyway, where can you find sound effects for Jedi Outcast (besides the sounds folder)?

 Are there any tools for converting a JO BSP file back to MAP for editing in JK2Radiant? :psyduck:
2006-07-14, 3:39 PM #23
Q3Map2 does it. From the cmd line:
q3map.exe -game jk2 -convert -format map c:/prog..../maps/mymap.bsp

Though if you're planning on taking the original JA/JO levels and porting them to another game...talk with your lawyer first.

But remember, he's using JK2radiant (with that damn sof2map compiler)!

But please start a new thread for this.
