a basic google seach of "thread is x years old" yeilded this gem

http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42326

the best thing is, the first reply was the necropost.

anyway, i dont think that we could find any that old on massassi as i dont even think that any of the forums as they currently exist have been around long enough, or those that have have been pruned.

How do necro threads happen (when they're not necro'd for trolling purposes)? It's especially bizarre when someone will ask a question and then someone chimes in with a response... FIVE YEARS LATER.

He died from an excessive post count. Massassi wasn't big enough for him, Avenger and GBK all at once. ;)

Maybe they're searching for something, and stumble upon a thread that they can answer.

I've done that, done a search for something and left it open until I forget that it's old, then read it later and post in it. Or someone links you to one and you forget or don't realize it's old...or you're just dumb. Or both.

Definitely. I'll add it to my favorites. How long should I wait though-1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years?

Yeah, pretty sure I've done it through searching. Usually I catch myself, but I've sure I've slipped at least once.

Something weird is going on with Ghost's profile (770 page views of his profile with only 1 post?? )

Since he registered 436 days ago, I guess those could be crawlers viewing the page.

Earlier this year, I revived this thread, which at the time was the oldest thread you could find on the Discussion Forum.

I find it more concerning that he has Obi_Kwiet in his friends list.
