I want to add AI to my MP level. What's the easiest way to do that?

I'm sure someone else here knows more about it than I do, but the AI has to be linked via a cog, or else the same character is going to do completely separate things in the different computers.

You could try downloading some of the co-op levels from Massassi and checking out the cogs used there...

there's a couple of MP AI syncing cogs in the cog section here at massassi. check those out and see if they'll work for you.
