Hey guys,

How's it going and do any of you know of any good software for taking a proper cluster**** of music files and folders and rearranging them sensibly based on (I assume) ID3 info or whatever?

Figured I'd ask here before googling because I like the conversation and because I don't doubt that some of you have experience with this very issue, and might have good recommendations.

Thanks!

I seem to recall Windows Media Player having a feature like that, actually.

Edit: Yeah, it's in options. You tell it to retrieve info from internet, and rearrange music in rip music folder, using rip music settings. Then set the rip music folder to your cluster**** folder, and adjust the rip music settings to your liking.

This is what you want: http://www.xdlab.ru/en/download.htm

Drop all your files in, set the filename to something like "%artist%\%album%\%track% %title%" and wheee it'll rename everything.

Hopefully your tags are right. :) If not, it can help with that too.

But really, iTunes does a great job of sorting your files into folders, and is great for finding album art too.

Yeah, as long as it doesn't crash, misread tags, or grab the wrong art. iTunes is terrible at handling anything that's questionable.

saberopus: of the options listed here, Phantom Seraph's has the best chance of working. I'd forgotten about Picard, but the ability to tag via audio ID is powerful.

MusicBrainz Picard is fantastic: http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard It even helps identify incorrectly tagged songs.

Edit: I see it's already been posted :)
