I'd already seen this painting and remembered it, but I think it's pretty cool that you can search google images in reverse if you need to know about a picture's origins:

I fail to understand why having artistic ability or painting scenes like this disqualifies someone from being pure evil.

I've always really liked his paintings. I picked his paintings out of a stack of cards in my highschool art teacher's office and said how much I liked them, only to learn I'd picked all but one painting that were made by Hitler.

Yeah, I actually quite like Hitler's stuff.
nope.
2013-02-22, 2:37 PM #13
If other people in Hitler's day liked his paintings enough at the time he painted them, perhaps history would be quite different. The United States would still be a backwater, and the first country to face nuclear weapons would probably have been in Europe instead of Asia.

Or maybe some other maniac would have come to power and "achieved" much the same as Hitler did (notwithstanding the Butterfly effect).

People back then didn't like his work for the same reason people don't like it now. It is utterly soul-less and bland.

Eh, I guess trying to take over the world is one way to make a boring painting a bit valuable.

I think we've had a breakthrough.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

Yeah when I look at this I just see like, a building in broad daylight. Whatever I see those everyday.

I don't. Adolf Hitler's unique vision really brought something to the... no, no, this is literally just a reproduction of an angle on a building in broad daylight, with some questionably-shaped human beings in the foreground.

it's decent postcard material

This looks more like a study, I've painted many buildings at that angle for practice.
2013-02-24, 1:56 PM #23
I think it makes a lot of sense, I mean wasn't he very much interested in architecture, especially that of the buildings the nazis built?
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Great. Hitler was a better artist than I am.
