She's gone now.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

With both Reagan and Thatcher gone, when will we bury neo-liberalism?

I look at this and think, "why would Boco be happy about this? She wasn't that bad"... and then I realise that he is a northener, and that explains everything.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I don't understand why people on the left were so upset about her killing the coal industry. As far as I'm concerned, the coal industry can't die fast enough.

I'd have thought you'd be on board, since she was also a woman.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

Poor Margaret.

There genuinely was a Thatcher death party in George Square on Monday.

The problem isn't so much that she closed all the mines, the problem was that there are towns all over the north of the country that were literally built around pits. All the men in the town worked in the pits and they decided to shut all the mines and didn't even bother trying to replace them with something else, so entire towns were suddenly out of work. Since nobody had any money to buy things the local economies crumbled and almost everything shut down, but of course it's all fine because London was fine.

[There's also a multitude of other issues with Thatcher such as the poll tax, the fact that she supported apartheid, was against the reunification of Germany etc.]
nope.

There were parties all over the place, including Brixton. She wasn't loved in most of London, either.

The other thing about the mines was the crushing of unions and the ability to organise and protest. But on the other hand, she instigated the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, which limited police power. Unlike New Labour and our current horrific government, who are removing further and further our freedoms from a police state.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused by that one too.

Well, my mum can remember standing outside supermarkets doing food collections for miner's families. But thousands starving to death is somewhat different. Maggie also oversaw the hunger strike deaths of ten northern Irish men.

And Gob[poo]e is one of our greater swearwords, I think.

In 1986 she de-regulated the financial market. These days politicians are having a hard time to put back those regulations because despite Maggie's conviction the market didn't regulate itself. It blew up in everyone's face.

I think that's because hardly anyone uses it compared to the rest.

Also, buggeration.
nope.
