    Free Computers (Crappy Edition)

It's been over a year since my last hardware giveaway, lets see if anyone is interested in any lowend stuff. Here's what I got:

    PC #1 Compaq 6515b Laptop

    CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-52 (1.6 GHz/2x512 KB L2 Cache)
    OS: Win7 Home Premium x86
    Hard Drive: 80 GB SATA @ 5400RPM
    Screen: 14.1" WXGA Widescreen (1280 x 800)
Graphics: ATI Radeon Xpress 1270 with up to 512 MB shared
    RAM: 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM @667 MHz (2 x 1GB)
Optical Drive: DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer Support
    Battery: 6-cell lithium ion
Wireless: Broadcom 802.11a/ b/g WiFi Adapter + Bluetooth
    Weight: 5.7 lbs

Notes: It's evident it's seen a decent amount of usage but it's not too bad and mostly functional. Has light scratches, scuffs, ect. It's refurbished. There is a fingerprint reader, but I've disabled it because it seems to constant disconnect/reconnect. It might be fixable or even a software issue. Everything else appears to work. Turion64 x2 isn't a very powerful CPU. Maybe a tad better than the other's in this giveaway, but don't expect to play games on it.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    PC # 2 Gateway LT4004u Netbook

CPU: Intel Atom N2600 (1.6 GHz, Dual core + HT)
    OS: Win7 Starter
    Hard Drive: 250 GB SATA @ 5400RPM
    Screen: 10.1" (1024 x 600)
    Graphics: Intel® GMA 3600
    RAM: 1.0GB DDR3
Optical Drive: None Battery: 6-cell lithium ion
    Wireless: Atheros 802.11b/g/n
    Weight: 2.65 lb

Notes: + Webcam. Has a few scratches on top and around the LCD but nothing major, pretty good shape. It's running Win7 Starter so there's some limitations with that- stuff like you cant change the background with some registry editing or 3rd party apps. It's an Atom tied to crappy intel graphics, don't expect performance here.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    PC# 3 E-350 Mini-itx System (NOT a laptop/netbook)

CPU: AMD e-350 (1.6 GHz, Dual core)
    Case: Foxconn Mini-itx RS233
    OS: Win7 Home Premium x64
Hard Drive: 128 GB Vertex3 SSD
    Motherboard: Foxconn e-350 itx
    Graphics: HD 6310
    RAM: 4GB DDR3
    Optical Drive: DVDRW
    PSU: 150w

Notes: Ok for a basic webbrowsing PC, I wouldnt expect to play games on it. It's still basically a netbook class cpu. Fairly quiet, low power.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Please only respond if you have a need/use for these. (I'm hoping people aren't looking at the itx system like "Ohhhh a SSD for my desktop") I'll probably end up picking via Random List thing because I know I'll feel guilty if I play favorites. In your reply post, indicate if your interested in ANY of the PC's or a particular one. Don't really have a solid deadline but I figure I'll be looking to wrap this up by next Wed (3/17).

    My Standard Disclaimer:

These computers are completely free, I will even pay for shipping. I do have a few restrictions:

    1) You must have an 'established' Massassi forum account. If you signed up immediately after seeing this post or have a very low post count, I probably will disqualify you.

    2) You must live within the Continental United States. (Shipping outside of US will cost me too much, Sorry.)

Laptops will come with AC power adapter. The itx system is only the actual computer tower (The case, and internal components) + power cord, you will need your own Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, and Speakers. These computers contain used/refurbished components, so no guarantees or warranties. Some of my previous giveaways, resulted in a DOA computers. No OS Install Media Included.

I'm interested in either the laptop or netbook. My netbook died last summer. I was using it as a GPS/nav system in my truck.

I'm interested in the mini itx system!

edit: Not looking at it for the SSD by the way. I would give it to my mother, whose laptop just died. She used to connect it to her TV and use a wireless keyboard/mouse so this would be a great fit for her .

If you still got that laptop I'd be very interested. My last one died on me. was an HP DV6000. Had it since 2007, so it saw some great use.

I'd be interested in either the netbook or the ITX. Moreso the ITX, since the computer club that I'm with is looking for a system to demo system building to local highschool students.
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

  15. #15
Any of those are better than my current computer.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but I would think an itx system would be a crappy choice to demo system building because it's small and difficult to do anything inside. If I was going to teach system building, I think I would start them off with an mATX motherboard in a fullsize case.

I'd like to have a laptop. My wife has one but I only have this desktop so if she wants to play sims on her laptop in the bed room I can't do anything but sit and watch her play. it'd be nice to putz on the net so I don't have to be on the other side of the house from her.

Actually, this is a good point. Nevermind the ITX system, then.

I would gladly take #1 or #3. My brother's laptop recently died, and he could use a new one. To be perfectly honest, i would use the itx to build an HTPC.

My brother was asking me about a small computer and if I could build him one, so this is godsend. I'm interested in #2 or #3.

You are welcome. Dota2 is going to be a F2P game when it comes out of Beta and there are a ton of ways to get free invites right now. After reading that you can buy them for 0.02 on the Steam Marketplace, I decided to spend ~$2 and gift it to everyone that didnt already have it on my steam friends list.

    Triscuit is a sweetheart <3

All of the other EAH members end up being such decent people to make up for their haxor brethren.

Instead of packing material, laptop was padded with approximately 100 flesh eating scarabs.

E: After initial awkwardness, scarabs have accepted me as their king.
