Jedi Knight on Android

Or more accurately; Android > Dosbox Turbo > Win98se > Jedi Knight

With the lowest resolution I managed 5-8 fps average on my Galaxy S3 (i9300). Reminds me of playing JK on my old P166 before I bought a video card, lol.

You should try TODOA on it. [http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/garosaon/smiley/fgrwink.png]

I think Dosbox has a hd size limitation of 500mb or something. So that might be tricky.
I just found out there is a 3dfx driver that 'might' work. I'll have to play with it a little later. Maybe I could squeeze a few more fps.

Great so in another year or two, it might be 'playable'. How are you controlling anything, bluetooth keyboard? Also why would a 3dfx driver help?

I disabled sound. Didn't have the drivers setup anyway. Tweaked the cpu settings. Now I'm getting 10-13 fps, which is playable (in a circa 1997 sorta way). I'm using a Logitech K400 linked via USB OTG cable. I played through most of the first level before I had to get some 'real' work done. Ironically, it seems to run more stable in this manner then it does on my modern system :P

I donno if the 3dfx drivers will help, but Dosbox Turbo has a setting that allows the gpu to take over the graphics load. No idea if that would help, but hey, maybe I'd get prettier graphics.

Should do more than a few extra fps; software rasterization is a CPU killer, just texture sampling takes a minimum of 12 fp muls and 6 divs per pixel. That adds up fast if you don't have a dynarec.

This is a neat experiment, guy. >:D

Wait, Android can recognize right click from the usb-otg mouse? Why does the Teamviewer client fail to send them?

JK doesn't support running from DOS?
error; function{getsig} returns 'null'

Teamviewer? Donno, but I use 2X Client for RDP and it registers right clicks fine.

No 3dfx support for now. The dev for Dosbox Turbo chimed in with this;
"Thanks for writing. 3dfx support is in the pipeline and probably a
few months out as I test/optimize it. I do not believe it will offer
any significant performance benefits. What it will offer, however, is
compatibility with 3dfx titles. Even though DosBox Turbo is by far
the fastest/most optimized DOS emulator on android, I do have some
other experimental optimizations I'm currently working on. Hoping to
drop them in the coming months as well."
