Some of you may remember I asked about Jedi Academy a month or two ago. Well, it's now $3.69 and I got it :D Also got TFU 1 and 2 for $6.79 apiece.

Thought some of you might be interested (assuming you didn't already know) :ninja:

Yeah it's weird that none of the X-Wing games are on Steam.

I tried playing Jedi Outcast a little while ago and I found it insanely difficult. I couldn't even finish the first level. Stormtroopers suicidally run at you en masse, the only way I found to win was to spray the whole room with full-auto fire and hope I could wipe them all out before my health got to zero. What the **** Jedi Outcast?

That game is the reason why i was never mad when FPS games started using regenerating health

Generally, the older a video game is, the harder it is. Look up Nintendo Hard on TV Tropes xD

Of course, the major reason for the age/difficulty ratio is the period before the introduction of saved games, but still. :ninja:

Battletoads. I'm still convinced the game has no end :|

yeah, the gunplay in JO/JA is terrible. I always thought the crosshair was messed up and the npcs move so much faster than the projectiles. 3rd person guns is basically unplayable.

I wish they had have kept the 1st person lightsabre in JA though.

Turn off the dynamic crosshair or whatever it is, helped for me. Otherwise, I had no problems headshotting stormies.

Also, the stormtrooper AI actually is somewhat dynamic. They will attack you when they are grouped, but by themselves they'll fall back and try to regroup. It's waypoint based, but it's better than the AI before it (that is, basically none at all).

I feel like stormtroopers should have deliberately awful AI and aim.

I hate that the enemy AI was gutted in JA so they basically become cannon fodder. They never retreat or advance, they just stand where they are and shoot. Even if you're bearing down on them with a saber.

I remember when I edited JA I had to actually fake the AI to look smart using scripting and waypoints. It was tedious and awful, and a pain in the ass to fake intelligence when the game should have just been able to do that on its own, because JO used to be able to do it.

I should really give JO a replay because I don't remember JO as a particularly hard game. I do remember that some of the boss fights were very difficult but then the final boss, Desann, was surprisingly easy.

And I can't remember anything impressive about the AI. I think I do remember them 'falling back', but I don't remember much regrouping they just seemed to be backing away from me. :)

I replayed JO and JA a few months back, JO didn't really strike me as too hard... I remember screwing up a lot on the first couple levels, then sorta adjusting to compensate and doing fine. I think I was playing on Normal?
2013-05-05, 4:27 PM #19
I remember that there was this neat trick the AI did, if there was a group of stormtroopers, they would be more aggressive if an officer was with them, and if you killed the officer, they retreated or broke up. I thought that was really cool.

Not directly after. They introduced the anti-saber enemy (snipers) on the mission you get to first use the saber. Tons of them.

Easiest boss fights ever.

I personally picked up MotS for the first time for less than $2; I'm on the first Mara Jade level and it seems like a great improvement on JK. Although push seems completely useless.

Not if the enemies are right before a bottomless pit. Believe me, it's useful even for some difficult enemies at the very last level.

The dismemberment cheat doesn't fit a Star Wars setting at all. But hey, its existence explains a lot about the JO/JA online players.

So I bought Star Wars Starfighter in this sale and just tried playing it. The mouse controls are inverted and there is literally no way to change them. Good thing I only spent like 2 dollars on it.

haha i got that for my birthday when i was like 9 and was such a piece of crap about it. I basically mumbled 'thanks' half heartedly to the other presents and nearly leapt out of my chair with excitement when I saw a new star wars video game. I was atrocious! :awesome:
