But the shop is far away and the night is dark and stormy.

Man WHY does the Massassi BB-whatever board does this to me on a continuous basis? I did not paste the text -- I typed it in. Is there some setting I'm missing that automatically turns the font color of everything I type to black at random? Mmmm.

Did you paste something then overwrite it?

Thanks for editing. I don't remember, I was thinking about the chocolate bar. :)

Is that when it does that?

If you paste text, it takes on the formatting of the text you copied. If you don't want that, there's a button you can use to remove all formatting (2 a's with an X). Just highlight the text and click the button.

Yeah, but only within the board, no? The black thing is a different bug I think. Anyway man. It's not easy being green.

No, if you copy text from just about anywhere, it'll keep the formatting.

Oh man.

The first image is how it looked when I typed it (I copied & pasted the text from your message into mine because it's faster than using the quote function).

The second image is what I saw when i clicked the Edit Post button on my previous message. Mmm.

Lessons Learned:

Lesson 1. Never use WORDPRESS.EXE, it's pretty much useless and everything's much easier & faster to setup following instructions on the WP site.

Lesson 2. Give the domain time to propagate instead of clicking everything that's clickable like a frenzied chimpanzee.

And the weirdest thing is, it appears that I can't view http://www.tyrovogel.com from my own computer, but see the WP page from work. Very strange.

What I see is: Welcome! This domain was recently registered at namecheap.com . The domain owner may currently be creating a great site for this domain. Please check back later!

Tried different browsers, clearing cache, putting "?foo" at the end of the URL. Now going to ****ing disconnect the i-nets altogether.

Tried /flushdns to no avail. Tried changing DNS on local altogether. Same story. I'll get down to the bottom of it, but it's pretty annoying... Grr.

As I said, welcome to DNS caching. It's not always that easy, especially if the root DNS servers already have the old nameservers cached.

What the **** is this thread even about? Koobie narrating his life?

Koobie's domain name reseller threw up a self-promotional A record with a 24-hour TTL and then Koobie visited his domain before fixing it so the junk one got cached.

Also Koobie is running Wordpress on IIS apparently?

Pretty much. Stay vigilant, maybe you'll pick up a couple of tricks...

For example, this:

Here is a message from the ones that use it: use it, don't abuse it. ;)

I don't think anyone is going to be beating the wall down to get hosting with a ****ty company like that. Besides, first-month coupons are common. :P
2013-07-09, 8:22 AM #36
Hostgator is pretty good from what I've read. One of the best, even.

What makes you think they're ****ty?

>> Besides, first-month coupons are common.

Yeah, with percentage discounts. There's no coupon clearly available anywhere that allows you to have $10 dollars off an $8 package, getting you 1 month's hosting for free (or rather for $0.01). In other words: it's not exactly supposed to do that. But hey, whatever.

Do you want a list? (Too bad you're getting one anyway)

A. I automatically get uncomfortable when companies try to upsell you on **** automatically when you order something. It's a pretty scummy thing to do to just opt people into extra services they didn't even acknowledge (or knew existed) on the last part of the order page. Suddenly your $0.01 order would be a $12.xx order and you didn't even check that box.
B. "Unlimited" anything sends up huge red flags for hosting. It's one thing to oversell a server, but unlimited typically means "we don't give a crap what the server runs like as long as you keep paying us". They're not actually unlimited and they'll gladly suspend your service for going over it.
C. They outright block the usage of a ton of stuff, some legit, but some just stupid (god forbid you host images!).

Whoop de doo? Some give you first month free without a coupon. I don't see the big deal.

Not if you read the fine print and unclick a couple of checkboxes. Also, it'd be pretty stupid not to look at the price of the order that's displayed on the page before you buy anything.
