my OS drive is going down. every once in a while i'm getting the click of death. any recommendations on a decent, relatively inexpensive SSD for me to install my OS and a few choice programs on?

The Samsung 840 seems to be the most commonly recommended SSD right now. Intel, Crucial, and Corsair all have generally good reputations, I would avoid OCZ (recently bought out by Toshiba) and Kingston. I'd recommend something 120/128gb for OS + a few programs, pretty sure 60/64gb drives are being phased out by most manufacturers and the price difference is pretty minimal anyway.

Thats what i'm getting from other sources as well. The 120gb Samsung is pretty cheap right now on newegg too $91.00 + shipping. Although there is a Crucial 120gb on sale this week for $75.99 including shipping... hrmm.

I picked up one of these about a year back for my Linux OS drive and I've had no complaints. It's only 30 gig but all my bulk data is on an external RAID anyway.

Samsung 840 EVO is a great choice for reasonable cost, high speed, and good capacity. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-EVO-Series-2-5-Inch-MZ-7TE250BW/dp/B00E3W1726
