I know it is trying to do that "90s-style," but darkly-lit areas with lack of visual differentiation can be frustrating in its own way (like it was back then).

I hope the best anyway

Shred this looks like a lot of fun. It says on the IndieDB page that it's a custom engine. It looks heavily inspired by the Sith engine, or JK specifically from the screenshots. Not a bad thing by any means, just curious if that was intentional?

Kiramin and I considered writing a game and using Jed as the editor. Never went anywhere but it was cool to think about. I'll try to check out the demo this weekend.

Eh, it just say's that because there is no option to write in a game engine name. I am using GZDoom. Which is sector based and has a number of similar features to JK! (and more) Back when I started this I actually started writing a game engine in Java that loaded JK levels and 3dos, but I decided it would take too long to finish. The game is partially inspired by JK though =)

If it's intended for free release, I suppose it doesn't matter, but have you considered Terminus and Marrub's GLOOME instead of GZDoom? I'm not sure what technical advantages GLOOME may offer, so I'm not really trying to sway you, just curious

Yes, but I don't like the way the renderer in Gloome makes things look, it stretches models vertically and looks grainy/pixelated. At least the build I tried.
