Islamic terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City on September 11th in 2001. The buildings collapsed, thousands of people died and there have been various consequences.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

The 00's might have been really cool if that didn't happen. One day smeared awfulness across the whole decade

A shame that the U.S. squandered all the sympathy they received and made things everywhere far, far, far worse with the Iraq War.

Thanks, George W. Bush!

The main thing I miss from the 90s was a tremendous sense of optimism.

Yeah, the tech bubble wouldn't have burst and pushed investors towards subprime lending. Damn terrorists.

If you love loading screens and poorly dubbed Resident Evil games. +1 to your previous post though. ;)

As awkward as it was, I prefer the N64 controller over the first gen PS1 controller. The analog stick made the difference.

I actually still used a 1st Gen PSX Dual Shock as my PC controller until last month (when I got a XBox One PC controller instead) with a LIK-SANG adapter.*

Your post made me remember that there actually was a non-Dual Shock PSX controller at the very beginning. I knew that avatar chose you for a reason.

* = And aside from almost using the controller for e-moo-lated Perfect Dark in 2007, I only used it June 2013 for emulated N64 (first level of) Shadows of the Empire-ing instead. WHAT A STORYMARK

It's weird how they then took both of those and combined them into the abomination that is the Gamecube controller.
nope.

The best thing to remember on 9/11 is all the stupid **** we did in response to it.

HEY IM HERE NOW HAVE SOME REAL TALK. It's really weird having such a personal connection to the events (lost 8 of my neighbors) and then to have the worldwide view of what happened.

It's weird and a dissonance that's taken me a long time to cope with. FOR EXAMPLE: The war in Iraq was a mess, the patriot act, TSA, blah blah blah. COMPARED TO: "Someone I knew was standing on the floor where the plane hit when the building collapsed"

Remembering the stupid **** we did in response is absolutely fine but the people are pretty important to remember too.

What you're describing is called cognitive dissonance. Overly intellectual people who talk about things unrelated to their own practical experience don't have enough of it.

Yes, I am describing myself.
