I am curious if we're looking to continue this tradition or not. If so, I should be able to add at least one to the list.

I mean, I've won every time I've entered so I may as well try again this year.

Yeah, I'm confused now. Were we supposed to be making new logos throughout the weekend? Did I burn my pants in celebration for nothing?

Wait what? You can make a logo whenever you want. I'm going to add the logo rotator thing sometime this weekend. If people add logos to this thread I'll add them to the rotation. But I'm only going to add this years logos to the rotation so they actually get seen (we have so many logos! which is awesome, but someone would have to refresh all day to see any new ones).

If you don't add your logo to this thread before Christmas, it won't get added to the rotation. Sorry.

I could be wrong, but I think CoolMatty had it set up so that the new ones for that year were given more "weight" in the rotation than the old ones. If that's the case, and it's easy enough to use, you may wish to consider using that. Otherwise, we may end up seeing just a couple logos rotating, as the number of logos made per year has gone down over the years. Then again, maybe only showing new ones will encourage more people to make them. We'll see.

Also, we apparently never did a logo contest for 2015. Sadness.

I see how the logos were rotated on the main page but I seem to remember them rotating on the forums as well. Unclear exactly how that was happening but I'm going to have to wait and actually do the rotations tomorrow. However, I did set up the contest page here, with the first two submissions uploaded: https://www.massassi.net/holidays/index.php?year=2016

And news was posted to main page... eek hadn't been updated since March.

I think I might actually make something this year. I keep putting it off another year; I might as well do it this year before there's no more opportunities

Logos are rotating on the main page. Using the script CoolMatty had set up (so all logos since 2008, not just the 2016 ones). For some reason I remember them rotating on the forums but I don't know how to set that up so I'm not going to bother with it. I probably overwrote the customizations when I updated or reverted templates to default.

I take it back; I got it working for the forums. It looks funny because the dimensions are all wrong, but I like it because people will actually see the logos. Let me know if you see any problems. I had some time on the ferry this morning while commuting to work so figured I'd spend a few minutes on it.

Just in case your curious, it does prioritize the current year. It has a 50% chance of choosing 2016. Once it picks a year, it just randomly chooses a logo within that year. If it picks 2015 it shows the default forum logo since there were no entries in 2015 (or no contest I guess). Eek.

Brian, I fixed the template, but you might need to change the plugin that controls it.

All you needed to do in the template was follow a comment's instructions to switch to curly brace, and comment out the old logo.

But since you moved servers, it's likely my plugin that powers it is not operational. Go to Plugins/Products, and you'll see the Holiday Logo plugin at the top. It has the source code in there. It's trying to load a PHP script in there (among other things), so if that's not loading then it won't work. Once you fix that up you'll get the proper logo rotation system going. The #1 reason to use this script instead of your method is my plugin also inserts the name of the designer of the logo.

And yes, my logo rotation script favors newer logos over old ones.

(You'll want to change the old forum logo variable back btw)

Thanks CM. I'll try to to fix up the script referenced in the plugin after work so we can get the names back in.

"Juno Eclipse," are you kidding me? That's almost as bad as "Savage Oppress," which I understand is a thing based on walking through the Lego aisle at Target.

    Yeah, the plugin says:

    Code:
       @include('/home/massfor/randimg.php');
But that script doesn't exist on the server at all. Nor in the archive files I got from you when I got the site back. Unless you have a backup somewhere I'm not sure what I can do at this point.

I'm inclined to do nothing at this point since the end of the year is right around the corner. But we could maybe worry about it for 2017?

I wonder how it makes you feel that Savage Oppress is actually canon...

Oh, weird! You know, I wonder if it was a symlink to the one on the Massassi side?

Either way I do have the file in my backup. Toss me a PM on IRC and I'll send it to ya.
