I saw he had changed his relationship status on Facebook to "in a relationship". I thought I'd start a thread in tribute and celebration. After all, this is a monumental turn of events in Massassi history.

A lot of us thought it would never happen. I understand those people, trust me. But I always had faith, and I let him know that. I realized there was a good chance someone of the opposite sex would come along one day and see what I saw: a decent, hard-working, funny, nice and intelligent man who will be easy to love. All that amounts to one lucky woman, and hopefully a lifetime of shared happiness ahead.

Congratulations, kiddo!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Facebuch? The same service where you removed stat from your friends list?

I don't assume genders. I assign them. Randomly.

Sounds expensive

No one said he assigned the right gender.
I had a blog. It sucked.
2017-05-24, 4:20 PM #13
Can he assign an alternative right gender?
nope.

At the risk of triggering someone, "middle aged male white supremacist" and "14 year old boy" aren't really genders.

Please stop. It is psychologically damaging. Literally. There are many research papers about it. Social network sites make you sad and angry and they're designed to steal time from you.

I did the Twitter thing for 6 years. By the end of it, I just used it to look at Tara Strong's breasts, and avoid every other page because I got sick of the whining.

So I thought "meh, I'll just grow my own".

i pretty much only use facebook to keep up with my local comic shop's events, a local burger place's daily special, the two or three people who actually post stuff worth my time, and scroll past the rest

twitter and snapchat are for following women who post titties... because titties

and reddit is for passing the time while taking a ****

the only site i lose a significant amount of time to is youtube...

Neither are any of the others beyond, you know, the two real ones.

I think it's more like Wookie06's phobias are in a quantum state. If you observe one phobia, he will change to another.

Facebook works great for me, maybe you guys are using it wrong
2017-06-01, 7:07 PM #36
Facebook works passibly well if you make a conscious effort not to use it the way the company intends--i.e., waste your time.

The site is still difficult to navigate if you default to just looking at your home profile page and avoiding your feed or having messenger installed on your phone, but it works decently as a barebones chat and private work group app.

Finally, if you have any event invites, you can just look at your notifications and avoid your feed. Email subscriptions also help here.
2017-06-01, 7:10 PM #37
But I mean, that isn't better than the combination of Meetup, irc, and web forums. It's only significant because they have addicted enough people using underhanded manipulation to reach critical mass of users.

That, and I heard it used to not suck so much, but that I can't be sure of because I didn't use the site at the time.

Well, except their app, which is probably the single biggest battery drain globally.

Or the entire concept of Facebook as a data mining-first, social media second company.

But yes, it "works" fine.

I usually use the timeline for creating events/receiving event invites/looking at pictures of events I wasn't able to go to, keeping up w/the general goings-on in my social circle. Facebook still does that better than any site or app I'm aware of. Messenger's just the latest chat app that Everyone uses--I use it the same way I used AIM, MSNM, Skype, etc. That stuff does what I want (aside from the battery drain, lol)

I definitely think using Facebook for news/getting in arguments on friends' walls/engaging with corporate pages is a waste of time, but I don't think it's super hard to avoid doing that.

I don't typically come away from the site "sad and angry" except when my roommate sends me a message abt how he's gonna be late with rent again :saddowns:
