Let S be the number of total votes cast here.

The rules of this thread are as follows:
    1. You may not post in this thread for the first time unless the number of forum members who have already made posts in this thread is less than S.
    2. There is no limit to your right to post in this thread once you've made your initial post in it in accordance with the first rule.
    3. All posts making questions or comments about these rules are themselves subject to the first rule.
    4. If and when people stop following these rules, the thread topic will be changed to Donald Trump to ensure that it remains the top topic on this forum, effectively implementing a sticky topic, which I will edit periodically in order to negotiate terms with Koobie in which we come to an agreement about the scope and frequency of his spam.

Additional rule: so long as the rules of this thread are not broken, Reverend Jones promises not to make any posts on this forum that in any way mention Donald Trump. Once the rules have been broken, he will return to doing so, and also make this thread itself into a Donald Trump thread, per rule number four.

    That was fast.

Here are my terms: stop spamming every thread with schizophrenic drivel, and I will post again on this forum.

Until then, the place is yours.

  5. #5
Consanguine it, Jones! This would actually be somewhat effective if every other thread on this forum this year already didn't concern Donald Trump!

This thread, as is the case with the other threads, does not deliver.

Maybe something needs to be done about Koobie...

  7. #7
Maybe Koobie should be taken to the Internet version of the farm

Koobie was spamming the forum to promote his (paid) writing and social media accounts. He was bumping his showcase threads to keep them linked from the main page, and he made every single discussion forum thread about his written works. I am not exaggerating when I say that several times Koobie had the most recent post in every single thread, all of which were about his writing or a link to his Google+ account.

It's the kind of shady behaviour that would get anybody banned from any forum, and this wasn't the only forum where he was doing it.

If you want this forum to become Koobie SEO central, then by all means, unban him. Enjoy it.
There's no need to ban Koobie if he agrees to cut out the non-sense. But we can't even have a basis for that conversation until he even admits there is a problem here.

Koobie, I like coming here. I waste a lot of time here. I have important things to be doing and sometimes procrastinate by coming here instead. I have no reason to come here if it's not enjoyable.

There is something to be said for zaniness. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's essential. We all want to break out of the normal vibe now and then and hit people with something unexpected and amazing. The problem is that when you come out of left field with unrelated **** in every single thread, you are making it hard for us to be anything but serious all the time, out of fear that any deviation from the topic at hand will be amplified 10x when you take it as your queue to further derail.

I understand that there is an ignore button. That doesn't take away the anxiety that comes from seeing the green dot next to Koobie's name, with a big green block obscuring more spam.

At this point, either Koobie agrees to cut it out, or I write a browser extension that effectively hellbans Koobie by deleting all DOM elements that have any trace of having been written by him, and distributing it to everybody who wants it.

I've unsubscribed to all threads except this one, and I don't feel like starting any topics of substance out of fear that they'll probably just catch cancer like the rest of this board.

As the self-appointed Protecting Power for Koobie on these forums, I'm gonna have to say that quite honestly I like seeing this place being more active once again.

And stepping outside the usual FGR antics and being unquestionably serious for a moment: Brian's way more chill about this kind of behavior (he unbanned Wookie06 as well) than CoolMatty was, so this decision is only up to him.

  12. #12
Brian, even if you aren't willing to consider a ban, will you at least talk to Koobie about the possibility that he voluntarily change his behavior, so that this place becomes more enjoyable for others? I am willing to tolerate a little, but it's really gotten out of hand, to the point that I'd consider just leaving this place for a month or two, and then one day survey the damage from afar to see if Koobie's attack on coherent discussion has gone into remision, or finished the place off altogether.

What I'm talking about: ignoring most of the content of the thread he is posting in, and just steamrolling it with his own unrelated content. See also: spam

Also, when you think about the possible reasons for FGR's defense of Koobie, think for a moment where we've seen this before!

Finally, while I know it would be disingenuous of me to claim that Koobie himself wouldn't mind a ban, he basically told us that he wouldn't mind it. When he wrote

he really shows how he is acting in bad faith here. There's no apology or justification for the possible reasons Steven might have had for suggesting he be banned, just a smirk.

To his credit, the mod who banned you also voted against unbanning Koobie (just look at the screencap in my post earlier in this thread).

Hey, now is the chance to invoke stare decisis in the case at hand.

  22. #22
Look, maybe he doesn't need to be banned permanently. I guess I'm open to that too, but maybe it's all up to him, right? What I care about is the quality of the board.

Thread hijacking is against the rules, right? We can leave the infraction as simple as that.

Once upon a time, these forums were all about me.

    People were like:

How many "play Deus Ex" and "/me listens to Jean-Michel Jarre" posts can FGR really make per day?

Who the hell gave him operator status on #massassi? kak did.
So what I care about is taking advantage of this situation to make Massassi about me once again.

Do not forget that after all these years, I have unquestionably fused with #massassi itself.

    Make Massassi FGReat Again!

I think Koobie has agreed to stop posting. Maybe you didn't see because you blocked him?

At any rate, if there were moderators who were reading this thread who had the authority to sticky it, maybe the thread wouldn't have been needed in the first place.

  31. #31
He didn't, but I'm going to install the blocker.

  32. #32
If he keeps posting, I'll update it to also fix the thread index. It's annoying to come here and see that the most recent post is by Koobie, because it buries the information of the last *meaningful* post.
