I'm trying to make a late-90s/early-00s style FPS in the Unreal Engine. Starting to script stuff with weapons, so I needed a model to work with instead of the cube-gun I currently have.



Check out the JK-inspired pixel particles :)

Well, Thrawn, I'm not gonna lie to you. if you come up with a more or less stable JKish FPS-in-UE4 gameplay base (enemies, guns, locked door shenanigans, etc. - so no fancy stealth modes or AIs knowing how to count or anything), I will actually pay you money for it. I really like what I'm seeing thus far.

Hahah I appreciate it!

BUT, given what it would take to clean up and annotate everything I have right now to the point that it'd make sense and be usable, it might be easier to just make a new one :v

I will say that taking a vow of not-buying-asset-store-stuff and trying to do everything myself was the best decision I made--I went into this less than a year ago with no programming or scripting background and was able to get amazingly comfortable with blueprint. Making ranged-attack AI is the only thing that's been hard to find tutorials/documentation on, but I'm making progress!

Man, that reminds me of how more or less anything in TODOA works through the COG script checking if a certain random thing is in a certain keyframe. The keyframes of course being random pipes with keyframe 1 having YAW value of 0 and keyframe having YAW value of 360 etc. At least it worked!

Was mainly referencing the SA80--are you saying the scope/ironsight needs to be farther forward?

Yes; either that or the stock would need to be longer. A longer stock makes more sense. Imagine where your hand would be when the weapon is shouldered. It would also be difficult to reload with the magazine tucked so close to the body, especially if wearing full gear, like a plate carrier.

All good points! There's a lot of triage happening in this project so I'll probably have to move the scope forward, but I appreciate the insight. Will keep posting future weapon designs in here :V
