Itís not even remotely XXX. Itís just a serious non-whimsical adventure.

I decided that Iím going to have my scientist study an astrological body BUT itís something that we havenít identified in the real world. Iím no good at physics so I donít know what kind of new astrological body I can make up. Does anybody have ideas for a fictional celestial body? Like something in the class of a quasar or a pulsar or a black hole

Doood. How about a junkyard planet that is so littered with broken droids it looks like Coruscant from space, but like super ghetto. And because of Kotor we know Star Wars has had droids for ages. So this planet starts to become self aware in patches from an evolving matrix of AI's, and your scientist is discovering that even thought individually droids have large databanks, as a collective their thinking over a large area is surprisingly rudimentary, like an infant, which has subverted expectations from the scientific community. He wonders if the patches of intelligence on the planet surface will combine into a single sentient being, who is either really dumb, and will grow to be super intelligent, or if the merging will result in a super intelligent sentient planet. But as this event seems to be imminent he is called away because of the super massive black hole thing.

I should state that a a non-whimsical Star Wars story focused on a scientist studying a space anomaly feels more like the focus of a Star Trek story, but what to I know.

I wish all the Reeyees would go back to where they came from. Stop stealing all the good bounties from hard working Bossks.

maybe he can be a scientist working for a cosmetics company that makes grooming products marketed toward nerf herders and other people of low economic standing

maybe he can be working on a device that would allow him to travel back in time (within his own lifetime only) to put things right that once went wrong

he can be building an AI to help feed him data, and a special hologram projection to be sort of his tour guide in whatever time he lands in

  17. #97
He could be working on a really advanced AI that could create random subjects for wizard-scientists to be working on in Lord of the Rings fan fictions.

Or a medicine that could aid one's addiction to deathsticks, and seeing as how that could potentially ruin one of the Empire's illegal ways of making money in third-world planets, they'd go after him. Or something.

Does Star Wars have a universal translator that isn't compartmentalized in an annoying droid?

Ok my scientist is studying sub-Hyperspace, the dimension in which quintessence can be turned into Phantom Energy and then travel to destroy star systems in real time. This is how Starkiller Base fires itís weapon after draining a sun. (Iím sure Disney will explore it more in due time). However, in the mean time; I wonder what other things my scientist can study about it. Applications Iíve considered would be a sub-hyperdrive which would allow for instantaneous travel like Star Trek: Discoveryís Spore Drive. It also could be used for instant communications. Good stuff but too much of a gamechanger to tinker with. What else could my scientist be studying about sub-hyperspace?

he can be developing a Sub-Anti-Resonance-Unit to replace aging, yet still wildly used, subspace vibro units. He's working new sub-space hardware to replace legacy hardware.

    Sub-ARU Legacy hardware.

Something that you hope your subspace W.I.F.E. uses if it gets uncalibrated when you're on a business trip.

While on a business trip to the IMPerial REstoration Zone Academy?

since common probe droids are easily detected, maybe he can be working on a Far Orbit Rapid Deploy Probe. It maintains a far orbit but then deploys at a moments notice before it can be detected

ya but they're incompatible with W.I.F.E.s.

maybe he can be working on some kind of implement or bot that can satisfy the requirements of both W.I.F.E units and SIDE H.O.s

I think we're on to something here. He should work on the sub-ARU legacy, the F.O.R.D. probe, or maybe an Axially-Mounted Computerized Pacer

Now that would definitely recalibrate both W.I.F.E. units and Side H.O.s

If you're investigating black holes and hyperspace, maybe you can include something about the rumored Endor wormhole created by the destruction of the Death Star II. Somehow tying the Dark Side death of Palpatine with the hypermatter explosion to his Deep Core Sith hideouts could lead into your supermassive black hole instability.

Also, there's the whole "Worlds Between Worlds" element introduced in Star Wars Rebels that allows for instantaneous travel between space and time. Maybe that works via sub-hyperspace?

Steven, you really seem to have a lot of this technical jargon figured out. Have you been working on your own fanfic?
