Ok lessee, I use a shaving gel and mach 3 turbo thingy.
1) You're supposed to prepare the skin. There's nothing like 1 to 4 blades of razor sharp metal being dragged along the skin to cause skin irritation. Ideally you should shave after showering when the hairs are naturally much softer (from the steam), you should also use a deep cleansing wash and/or an exfoliating scrub, this opens up the pores and makes a close shave much easier.
2) Shaving against the grain will give you a much closer shave, but it also greatly increases the chances of hairs getting ingrown (causes a painful rash in the process). What you're supposed to do is use a shaving brush along with your shaving medium (ie foam, gel) to make the hairs stand up on end. This way you can shave with the grain and still get a close shave, you also don't get the increased risk of razor rash or ingrown hairs.
3) Afterwards you don't
need to use aftershave (also, decent aftershaves don't contain alcohol, ie they don't hurt). Just make sure your face is clean and sparingly shove on some moisturiser.
Now for the ultimate in metrosexual grooming schedules
1) Wake up
2) Shower (every day)
3) Wash face with a facial wash (every day)
4) Exfoliate with facial scrub (2-3 times a week)
5) Shave (when necessary)
6) Aftershave/Moisturising
7) [Insert Daily Activities]
8) Wash face with a facial wash (every day)
9) Moisturising
10) Sleep
(Not including teeth cleaning, flossing, hair preparation and all those other wholesome activities that seem to have been labelled metrosexual)
If those activities take longer than 15 minutes, you're doing something wrong
This Just In: Google is good.
