Well, Bale is supposed to be Batman, right? But he would be way better then Bloom, that's for damn sure.

All the bond actors were well know enough in the UK. The bond roles made them famous in the US, but they weren't unknowns.

Last I heard, Clive Owen was the one they wanted to be the next Bond.

If they are going for a younger bond they don't need Hugh Jackman. Plus, he is too muscular. He seemed a good age to be a full adult in X-Men 2.

Just to say again... OBSCURITY?! Nah, they were all very well known in the UK, the first one that springs to mind is Roger Moore in the Saint (Yeah, he was there well before Val Kilmer...)!

A while back, there was a debate as to who would be the next Bond. Matthew Perry from friends was considered. I burned the magazine promptly after reading that.

I've heard all kinds of nonsense about who the next Bond will be. Someone even tried to tell me they were once considering Richard Gere.

Hope they don't screw it up.

I liked Goldeneye a lot. Sean Bean was one of the greatest villains of all time, and he really looked like 00-agent material.

To clear up the matter:

Sean Connery - no name before Bond
George Lazenby - no name before and since Bond
Roger Moore - famous for The Saint, The Enforcers, etc.
Timothy Dalton - was in Wuthering Heights, respected stage actor
Pierce Brosnan - Remington Steele, various film roles (like Mrs. Doubtfire) before Bond

It's a fairly even mix.

This "best grossing film" thing is a bunch of crap. You have to take into account inflation. Of course a Bond movie made today is going to gross more than a movie made 30 years ago, even if fewer people go to see the present day film. Its also an argument used to say that the SW movies grossed more than Titanic because of inflation.

As far as Jason Isaacs, he could be Bond. He played an agent in "The Tuxedo" (dont see it... terrible movie). It depends on how you look at him. My mom saw him in Tuxedo and she was all swooning about him... then she watched "The Patriot" again, realized it was him, and was like "he's ugly in this movie, he was way better in Tuxedo".

He was also cool in Harry Potter... too bad he had to get pwned by a house elf...

It's not that hard to take inflation into account. You can look at percentage profit or convert the "dollars" from one year to another.

Brosnan was good, but the movies were bad. I thought Goldeneye was great, but the rest of his struggled badly. We need more old school Bond movies.

I think fourwood should be the next Bond. Bond with a fro. To that I say yes.

if I'm right, 20 were reseased by MGM, (so far) however, "Never say never again" was realeased by another studio, if I'm correct.
so, that means some count 21, others count 20, some people just think that if MGM didn't make it, it isn't Bond.

Even taking into account inflation, Die Another Day is the highest grossing Bond of all (just to put it into perspective, Roger Moore's films made about $280 million all together - DAD made $250 million by itself. That's not all inflation, trust me.)

Brosnan isnt canned anymore. MGM officials said it. MGM has reupped its first-look deal with Irish DreamTime, the production company run by Pierce Brosnan and Beau St. Clair, reports Variety.

The company is developing several Brosnan vehicles at the studio, including The Thomas Crown Affair 2 and the actioner Mexicali, according to the latest Variety report.

Brosnan is also expected to return for a fifth outing as British secret agent James Bond. The 21st film in MGM's spy series is being readied for a November 2005 release.

"Obviously, we have a great relationship with Pierce from the Bond films," said Chris McGurk, MGM's vice chairman and chief operating officer. "But he and Beau are very talented producers as well, and we're excited to continue our work with them in that capacity. They have some great projects in the works."

Outside of MGM, Irish DreamTime is producing thriller The Matador with Stratus Films. The film, in which Brosnan will star, is gearing up to start lensing in Mexico.

"MGM has been our home for a while now, and we've developed great relationships with the production and marketing teams," St. Clair said. "We're really pleased to continue our partnership with the studio and look forward to working on more good movies for both MGM and United Artists."

Bond, James Bond can next be seen in the New Line romantic comedy Laws of Attraction with Julianne Moore.

and

LatinoReview, a reliable movie news website, has earned the first big denial about the recent `Brosnan Axed` rumours.

Due to the overwhelming number of emails the site was receiving about the issue, LatinoReview's editor contacted the Bond studio to find out the truth.

"MGM HAS INFORMED US THAT THIS RUMOR IS NOT TRUE!"

The piece goes on to say that the site did not originally wish to be the one making this statement, but due to the number of websites and media outlets quoting `Brosnan has been fired`, they felt had to.

Great news for Brosnan fans!
