What-freaking-ever.

Pop stars corupting our youth has always been a subject of discussion.

More than anything, my statement suggests why the article should exist...

Degrading to who?

Spears and Aguilera choose to dress this way. Does that make them victims? NO!

Little girls who choose to emulate them suffer from a poor parentage and a total lack of good role models. Does that make them victims? YES!

I love the knee-jerk reaction to cure the symptom instead of the cause, almost as much as I like the term 'knee-jerk'.

I mean, really, who is being degraded by their style of dress? The kids are going to emulate the strongest character they see anyways, and chances are it's not going to be their parents. It's also not going to be someone who spends more time protesting how other people identify themselves, instead of trying to form her own unique identity.

The women who dress this way choose to dress that way. They're being degraded by having wheelbarrows full of money carted in to them every day, I guess.

Maybe she's talking about the men who can't help but drool over attractive looking skimpily dressed women. Maybe she's really sympathetic toward women who can't pull off the same look. Who knows? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Well, I think that "T.A.T.U." proved that lesbian pop stars weren't all that great of note, especially when it was completely a publicity stunt.

Ah, she's just a lame Christian rock music singer who can't sell enough albums like Spears or Aguilera. Let her whine. No one cares.

What's funny is that if either of these girls met a calm, respectable, confident man, they wouldn't know what to do.

They can show their **** all they want, it still doesn't increase their self worth. I really hope these poor girls don't think they're respected or anything.

but its fairly true. Okay, she might be doing it to set an example, but is she as popular as them? Her whining is the only way she can get people to notice that she actually wears clothes. She should have tried a different approach than making examples out of them and saying "Look at me! I dont do that! Buy my music!"

Anyway, I'm sorry if I caused this thread to derail. I couldn't pass up that opportunity, though.

..What?

Good for this chick if she wants to dress modestly, but while I think Britney and Christina are untalented sluts, they're under no obligation to be role models for little girls. Little girls' parents, however, have a responsibility to keep their kids away from things they shouldn't be seeing.

Quite true, but you and I both know there no way in hell a parent can keep his/her daughter from watching that kind of crap. Whats worse, little girls are drawn to that sort of thing, as today's society somehow presents it as the norm.

Why can't they? Failing that, why can't they instill in their child an understanding that they are not to emulate Britney Spears? This singer in the OP obviously got the message.
