Something's amiss...
2004-02-21, 12:50 PM #1
I haven't been here for a while, but looking at the old threads I haven't seen any discussion of the song Hey Ya, even on the grammy thread.

It's a love it or hate it type song, and I love it.

Anyone else dig that song?
Anyone dislike it? (you suck [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] [just kidding])

I like it. The video is absolutely fantastic.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

I don't see what's so special about it. I find it rather boring.

It's a song by Outkast that's apparently pretty big (I hadn't heard it either, until I *ahem* acquired it).

Hopefully it'll open the minds of the people who claim that all rap/hip-hop is crap.

It's a very feel-good song that doesn't suck. That's a very welcomed change. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Is that the one that's like "Shake it like a polaroid picture?"

I don't like it. Although, I WOULD find it tolerable if it wasn't playing every 6 minutes on all my mom's radios in the house... X_x

Yep, that's the one.

I sympathize with you. I'd probably not like it either if I heard it under those circumstances.

I woulnd't quite call it rap. Hardly any of the Andre 3000 CD is rap. It's cool, but I wouldn't call it rap. The Big Boi album is rap for sure. Regardless, Outkast rules and the Hey Ya video is awesome [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

In my opinion. About 90 to 95% IS crap. The remaining 5 to 10% is almost listenable.

That's my opinion.

Why do you guys hate rap? Don't even stereotype about not liking it because some rappers talk about money and jewelry and stuff... a lot of rappers don't.

1) It starts off too quickly. There's no intro or anything.
2) The vocalist has an annoying voice.
3) Feel good songs make me angry.

It might not be rap, but it is hip-hop.
I like the Andre 3000 cd, but the explicitly sexual lyrics kind of ruin most of it for me.

1) The "my baby don't mess around" part is the intro. The song changes several times.
2) At first it's kind of annoying, but it gets better
3) fair enough [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Although rap artists do a good job of bustin' out their rhymes, I find the flat tone of their "singing" to be irritable.
I also find the basic rhythm and tempo of most rap songs to be annoying.

Jin: I know what you mean. There's some great stuff I've heard such as melodic rap with almost spooky harmonies and rapping in waltz time signatures.
I can't stand most popular rap, although I'm beginning to understand the appeal.

Yes, and I pray I never hear it again.

What do I like... Metal, Rock, bands like Tool, Metallica, Korn etc. At least members of these bands have talent. Rappers have no talent compared to other musical genres. They just ramble, Its not even singing...

I don't like rap or hip-hop. I just don't, I am not expecting to change any of your minds, and your shouldn't expect to change my mind. And yes, i have experimented with rap before, listened to for about a month, listen to a variety of it, from Eminen(sp?) to Pac, and I came to the conclusion that i just don't like it, but i do have respect for rap artist like Pac and such.
