So . . . he is the one to blame for 3d0 and dynamic light flickering?

Sounds like it could be, or the vis algorithm that has an exponential performance cost relative to adjoin count. Or it could be something totally benign. Learning about it, even if it's viewed as one of JK's problems and quirks, might be interesting.

Well, all I can say is: "DAMNIT !!!" Grrr... you lucky swine [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] - some people have all the luck...

Personally, I'd love to have a look-in on how the COG Programming language aspect of JK was was conceived, devised, programmed and engine implemented. As a side note, didn't Yves Borckmans (resposible for COG Programming) once visit Massassi?

I'm also interested in the MotS addition of COG interaction/dependency with AI files, to be able to distinguish between allies and enemies - just a shame really that this guy wasn't really connected with this side of JK - still - fantastic news, and a great experience too, I'd imagine [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

... and the source code was within your grasp? Just... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif] - so close again fellow Massassians - we were nearly there... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Yes, but he mostly showed up at Code Alliance.

It would really be cool if we could land a question and answer session with this guy and maybe even Justin Chin.

Absolutly... but what questions would really be relevent? There isn't much we can do to tweak JK anymore without the souce code, and we all know it's LEC's property, not the developers.

Yves always tried to stay in touch with the community, even when he was at LEC. He was after all one of the founding fathers of it with his DF work [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

The sith engine is still impressive. It just feels so fast and streamlined compared to the JO/JA engine-- in MOTS, you actully feel like a jedi. JO/JA just has this heavy ponderous feel that MOTS didn't have.

Given a few upgrades, MOTS engine could be at least equal to modern engines, although it probably could never approach doom3.

Since MOTS is so old and is basically abandonware (its not sold anymore and you can only get it on places like ebay now) see how much LEC wants to license the source code. Perhaps if enough people here still care about it, we could purchase the rights to use the source code and then develop it collectively.)

The Indy3d engine was pretty sweet. Alpha-layerd 3d0s, colored dynamic lighting, spectacular partical effects, archi-vertex manipulation cog verbs, 3d0 node query and manipulation cog verbs, it was a SWEET engine..

Its too bad LEC didnt let us have our way with it. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I'd like to see great things come out of the JK engine... I bet even Ruth is still limited a lot in his SG-1 mod.

Has anyone tried to contact LEC recently about the source code? I mean, it has beena couple years, hasn't it? Maybe someone should just check in and make sure they still hate us with every fiber in their collective being. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Sith is part of the LEC codebase now. There's no telling where code from it might have ended up. It's probably still even used in their latest games.

I've tried asking some of the other developers about the JK engine. Either they don't remember or they signed NDAs. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Used in their latest games... perhaps in small bits and pieces. But really, how much can it truly resemble the code for Armed and Dangerous? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Maybe if we poke 'em in the belly enough.

We aren't getting the source code. It's just the facts. It's been tried over and over, and as far as I know, LEC has never released ANY source. The only good update they did for the community was the Direct3D rewrite of Outlaws.

Maybe when we are old men, Jedi Knight 14 comes out, and C++ is replaced by D++++,
they will release it.

Edit: That was a stupid thing to say...

Mystic0 = Very lucky person with lots of friends and cool gadjets. If that's true, then I'm a genius. But I wish we could figure out the code to JK, then the mystery of life would finally be revealed.
