I wonder when they'll make a movie out of a game with a good complex story. It seems they only use the crappier ones to make movies of. How about a max payne movie? or a deus ex movie?

Hey, the first Mortal Kombat wasn't that bad.


What saddens me is that those movies, if made now, would likely rock, since now is the days when Hollywood realizes that if they don't approach a subject as schlock, it won't end up being schlock - case in point, comic book movies then and now...

Halo.

I personally think it would be an awesome movie. Not just including the contents and elements of the game, but the three books as well.

I also think it'd be best as CGI (eg Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within). I don't think it'd be quite the same if it was live action.

Aliens and Predator were movies first.

They'll make a movie about anything if they think die hard fans will shell out cash for it.

as long as they properly combine elements from the games, the books, and a little creativity from the people making the movie (which means they better get the right person) it would be a good movie

but you guys forgot House of the Dead... and if you search crazy taxi on imdb you will find this total WTF

Metroid would be a pretty terrible movie, as much as I'd like to see Samus on the big screen. It's not so much that the games are about collecting powerups endlessly, as the fact that the dialogue would be a bit one-sided.

I don't know how a Soul Caliber game would tranlate into a movie. There's not a lot of story to work with.

as long as they don't base it off duke nukem forever...

in fact... a duke nukem movie could very easily be a great intentionally cheesy action movie... now we just need to make a Arnold Schwarzenegger/Jon St. John clone to play the part of duke nukem

Silent Hill is the only game-to-movie coming out that has a chance of not being horrible. Directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf), with Team Silent overseeing writing, production and graphics. Possibly Stan Winston doing puppetry effects.

I wonder if anyone is working on a *REAL* Final Fantasy movie...And FF7: Advent Children doesn't count, but it'll surely be awesome.

I'm pretty sure the Aliens vs. Predator movie is based off of the comic. Also, the Super Mario Brothers movie was awesome!

What about Resident Evil? That's probably the best video game movie I've ever seen. I think the sequal comes out this summer. I'm not sure if it follows RE2 or 3.
