I'm sorry, but you're just a tool of the indicativarchy, and by denying it exists you're merely furthering the oppression of subjunctives. Subjunctives deserve equal rights to any indicative, and just because they may be "misunderstood" does not give you the right to discriminate against them.

Has anyone ever wondered why things like double negatives, ebonics, etc. are still considered to be "wrong" even though they have become commonplace? We still understand the meaning of so-called bad grammar, so why is it considered wrong? If you used proper english today, you would sound like a snob.

Furthermore, who decides what is correct and incorrect, and why the hell should we care what they say?

The language should be updated based on how people speak in day to day life. The world is evolving, and our language should also evolve to reflect the times.

People don't generally speak correctly these days. The old grammar rules are still the old grammar rules. They don't evolve as quickly as the language

I think normal speach would sound much better in the United States if people would remove the word "myself" from their vocabularies. I'm always hearing it used incorrectly, as in, "Joe called myself and we discussed our weekend plans." If they are trying to sound more intelligent by using "myself" instead of "me," it isn't working. If they can't use it correctly then they shouldn't use it at all. [/RANT]

Yeah, yeah, I probably have lots of picky little things wrong with that paragraph , but it sounds good to me. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
