The Human Race Sucks
2004-03-09, 1:27 AM #1
I caught my girlfriend's son (who is 7 years old) watching Elimidate on late-night TV. I have only been paying for basic cable which is about 15 channels. Since I didn't want him watching that stuff, I upgraded the cable so now we get about 80 channels. Now he has his Cartoon Network.

Anyway, I couldn't sleep so I flipped on the TV. There was this reality show called House of Dreams on some channel. Basically, all these people get together and build a house. Whoever wins the reality show wins the house. They kick off a person a week or something like that.

Anyway, there were people in various stages of their lives, young, older, have money, none, married, single, with or without kids, etc.

One guy had previously had serious injury and has been unemployed for quite a while. He lives in a shelter with his two kids and his wife. He always talks about how great his kids are and how loyal his wife is, even through all the crap they've been through.

The people voted to kick this guy off. Their reasoning was that they really wanted to win the house and that they didn't feel like if they were up against this guy, they could win.

So they completely eliminated the most unselfish, non-self-pitying, optimistic, caring, decent and kind person just because they KNEW in their hearts that this guy deserved it and would win if they went up against him.

HELLO. How much more selfish can you get? People suck.

Yeah most reality shows suck. But you have to realize that when they choose people for those shows, they purposely choose people that wont get along, who will be selfish, or extremely opinionated. This is why on "Real World" theres always one gay guy, and one guy whos a homophobe.

I never watch reality shows; that's one reason why. It brings out the most greedy aspect of some people, especially when a major prize is on the line.

Yes, I agree what is the human race coming to. About 2 weeks ago, a public school was broken into by a couple of kids, a few miles away from my house. They set off fire estinguisers (sp) in the hallways, pppoured milk all over the floor, broke windows, tore up important papers.

I ask myself why, even if you were mad at some individual at the school, why this. What is the human race coming to.

The human race is teh suck.

Reality TV should be shot in the face with a shotgun.

I think that sums it up.

Reality TV is a cancer upon television, and it will be the death of TV if it is not stopped.

In such a situation as this, I think it would be appropriate for the network to quietly provide the eliminated contestant with a home, and aide him in getting a job. They picked the man out of a shelter for god's sake. That's like putting a starving dog on a leash and putting food an inch from his reach. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Ive done that before. Its great fun. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Seriously, though, they undoubtedly paid him something. Weither it was enough to get his family out of the shelter, I dont know, but I doubt he left empty-handed.

Regardless of that fact, (which is in fact speculation, but a good one) it would have had to have been a good deal of money to be of any benefit to him and his family. The man is incapable of providing a home for his children. With welfare in place, that is a seriously dire situation. It woul dhave to be a GREAT amount of money in order to balance out the torment of losing what probably to him seemed like his only chance of getting a home for his family. It's horrifyingly depressing.

i dont get the point of reality shows. people basically manipulate, fight, argue, and do horrible deeds to win a sum of money. tellme, if youre so damn greedy, why do you have tobe on tv to do that? hell, do it off the air, when you can do actual illegal stuff to fill your hearty cash desires!
