When I can't get my hands on 1600x1200, or 1280x1024/960, I do. Or when the monitor just makes those resolution damn near impossible to use.

I never use anything below 1024x768 though.

there was a mod like this made years back, "FBJK TC" or something, a couple of guys had basically emailed a whole load of editors, asked if they could use their stuff, not added anything new, and slapped their clan name on it...

personally I think that's seriously "bright, colourful and happy" as one guy from TACC would say

First of all I didn't like the way you write.I won't be simple as you are if you had a problem you should have send a message to me.we are all star wars fans and we're trying to make better and more entertaining mods.lots of friends who I got their support(the map and mod builders) have told me the things you've done and a I wanted to let all the starwars fans know this there were a few authors who didn't wanted their skins or textures to be edited but their workswere already perfect.the owners of the skins and maps know that I have edited their works ,sure.I'm acting as sensitive as I can be in that situation .I'm not trying to beak anybody's right. In addition the owners of the works(skins, maps) are written in the map and bot loading screens. You can see them in the trailer of the mod and in the picture at the down of the page

kaliteweb.net/~tim/per1.JPG
http://www.pcgamemods.com/3362

By the way, we didn't reach some of the Models/Maps/Skins/Mods authors that we're thinking touse in the TC. I think their e-mail adresses are wrong. %95 of the authors have given permission.

Our goal is to create a jedi knight standard including the materials of the star wars movies and an original, an enjoyable mode. We can also say Expansion Pack of Jedi Knight Series to it. Most of the Models/Maps/Skins/Mods authors gave their support to us. I've received hundreds of e-mails lots of starwars fans are waiting to see the project finished and published.

Plus the game will be able to get from the gamer portal sites on cd for who cannot download from the net.and there are lots of skins, mods, scripts and new features that I added to the game.I cannot tell everything but I'll do my best to tell'em here.

lots of models, skins and the errors on the maps are edited as the original ones in the films.the voices og the characters are edited ,too and now they have the original voices just like in the movies.plus the personal features are added to the bots and npc's(guns,weight,race..)and all the maps are re-edited to have bot support.and they're put in the map selection menu in the starwars chronological queue.and the game is powered with the current mods and the specilites of them are added to the game, too.plus there's a menu to play the new sp chapters or the popular mp modes

Episode VI Death Star Emperor and Vader duel
Episode VI Sarlacc
Episode IV Escape from Death Star
Episode V Darth Vader and Luke duel
Episode IV MosEisleyCantina
Episode II Geonosis Hanger
Episode I Duel 0F The Fates and more...

small cinematics...

plus the gaming portals which I have contacted are going to set servers by using this expansion.the starwars fans who has this expansion will be able to play with the film characters and ind the film places .and they're going to have a different taste than the jedi academy.plus the game will be updated in time...

the expansion includes all the starwars characters so you can use dark team vs. light team instead of red-blue team.dark team will include the darksiders and the light team will include the jedi's and the rebels so there will be more enjoyful clan matches
this expansion is just a fanmade thing and if you play the game just to get rid of stress and kill someone on the net you don'T need the expansion.and I think you download skins and modes by your own.like playing the matrix in jedi knight.but if you want to feel that you're in the starwars universe with jedi academy you will love the expansion.of course everyone doesn't have to like the expansion.the aim of this expansion is the starwars fans who wants to play the game like this.I respect the thoughts off all...

We're requesting the help of volunteered star wars fans about the authors that we can not reached. If you want to help us, you can take a look at the list below. Night4554, from Theforce.net/games, is responsible for this subject.

Lets disreguard the stolen material argument for a few minutes.

Even if you do complete all of this, there is no way in hell it'll ever be downloadable. Not even if you use the best file compression available. It'll still be several hundred meg worth of data, unzipped it could easily be a gig or more. While broadband users won't have much of a problem with it, modem users (which still DO exist) aren't even going to bother. I for one, do not want to spend 3 days downloading some silly pack that will "standardize" the JO/JA gaming experience for me. Now that I think about it, even a standardization CANNOT be done. New levels, mods, and skins are released daily. Within a month you'd be out of date.

Simply put, there isn't any way this will work out the way you think it will.

I'd rather download my own mods and let Commander Patch sort me out. By far easier, quicker and simpler than pulling down 600MB. I mean, BFP2x was 8MB and it took me 5 hours to pull down over 56k.

Those were the days...

Ok, so you'll give it out on CDs. Who's going to burn them all? Who's going to pay for the blank CDs? I sure don't know anyone willing to burn CDs all day for free. Especially if it means they have to spend their own money to do it.

While you addressed that problem, you did not address the standardization issue I raised. Again, simply put, there isn't a way in hell it's worth it. Within a month, you'll be out of date. In two months you'll be far behind. In three, your pack has no reason to exist. People submit things to sites everyday. YOU CANNOT STANDARDIZE.

This is an idea that initially may sound good, but after thoughs about practicallity begin, it quite obviously can't be a good idea.

I honestly think you're wasting your time.

For crying out loud people, get over it.

He is getting permission for the works he's using, and that's the only real issue. If nobody downloads it, so be it, he'll find out the hard way.

The point is, you aren't telling him it'll fail out of the kindness of your hearts. You want him to go ahead and release it anyway and hope he'll suffer the embaressment of a total failure. What a lovely little community we have here...

Honestly.... I know this is a Jedi Knight website which argues over whether or not it should upgrade it's forums from their ~1999 version, but really "get with the times"

Let's look at BF1942 mods:

Galactic Conquest 0.2
released 3 days ago
460 meg
154,000 downloads on Fileplanet alone

Desert Combat 0.7
released half-way through last month
just shy of 600meg
1.1 million downloads

yes that's right, over half of massassi's total downloads(which last I heard hadn't broken 2 million) in less than a month

I'm not saying Tim's mod will be as popular, but there are the sites out there with the bandwidth.

That and a lot of people have upgraded from their 1991 2400bps modems...
2004-03-15, 5:10 AM #36
Which takes us back to the problem of Modem users period.

Cable and highspeed users will have no problems getting the file. Modem users will be left in the dark. I don't think very many modem users will want to spend several days downloading a 600 meg file. He mentioned sending it out on CDs, I've pointed out that unless he's doing something I haven't thought of, this isn't very plausable.

Then, as I keep mentioning, is the problem of his "standardization". It simply can't be done. It'll be out of date within 2 months.

Seriously, aside from those two issues which I keep restating, I don't see any problems with this.

i'v got both desert combat, and galactic conquest, both are damn good..but wots different about those, and what makes people download them is because they are proper TCs, not just a collection of maps and skins that total 600mb and dont really add anything new, like what tim is proposing..
2004-03-15, 6:23 AM #38
I think Tim should make his own map so he can see the work and time behind such creations. It appears he wants to just make a collection for his mod. Maybe show some more respect for those who worked hard.

Also Tim, when you asked permission for the maps, did you tell thos authors that you were planning to take their work beforehand without notification? Did you say sorry?

Yes your probably right. It just seems to annoy people (including myself) if a MOD consists only of work done by other people and not the author.
