Who wants a thread about girls? I think I know who.
2004-03-12, 5:20 PM #1
I am unhappy. I have a crush on a girl, nay, a HUGE crush on (and that's all it is, a crush) a girl. Unfortunately, i don't know what to do about it. The reason I'm unhappy is because I almost just told her and ended the problem (one way or another) today, but I couldn't quite convince myself that would be a good idea. And now it's spring break and i get to enjoy 9 days of THIS EATING ME ALIVE. Help me, I must know what to do.

Whatever you do, dont tell her. Make friends with her, get to know her. But, for the love of God, dont tell her!

Yeah I wouldn't recommend telling her. It would be very awkward pretty much any way you look at it.

Yeah, I told this girl I had a crush on her once in my senior year of high school. Big mistake, we were together for like two years and now it's really awkward to be around her.

See if you share any common friends or interests and just get to know her. Tis what I'm doing right now, actually, to someone I know. Been working swell so far.

I could go on an on about how you should either do something about your crush or stop obsessing over her(yes, it can be done). But I know you won't listen to anything I say(not because of you, but because of your crush), so I'm going to save my breath.

That's the problem, y'see. Normally I would just get to know her and that would dissipate the intense crush or whatever, but the REASON the crush is so intense is because of the most minimal contact possible i have with her. Listen to this...she sits behind me in my English class. We do not talk during my english class, before class we are expected to copy down the vocabulary and not talk, during class we aren't allowed to talk to each other, and after class she starts talking to one of her friends immediately and i have to hurry to my next class. She sits behind me so i never get to see her. EXCEPT when she or I walk into the room and sit down. It's torture. Like I said, the minimal contact is obviously the reason the crush is so intense rather than just a general "she's cute".

There is no way to say this without being a dick or looking like an arrogant ***. Bob, get over it. Crushes are just idealistic fascinations on people you don't even know and entail endless torture and the continuation of a dreadful inferiority complex. The entire reason people have crushes is because they believe they are beneath the object of the crush, whither they think this consciously or sub-consciously it doesn't matter. Otherwise, they would just ask them out or dismiss them as not worth their time.

I have no idea how you would go about increasing you mental health(aka confidence), but your physical health is a good way to start. You may not need it, but running a mile every day could get you started.

I know none of that you care about so I'll shut up now.

This happens to me every once in a while; my heart will all of a sudden just lock on to a girl I know virtually nothing about. I can't label any specific trait that draws me in, it's just some force. I rarely pursue them, unless fate happens to throw us into the same social setting. If you can't hang out directly with her, might you try getting to know her friends first? Are any of them in other classes with you, and more easily available to hang out? That could be your way to a friendship with this girl. I know it sounds like you'd be using people in this plan, but her friends could be great friends for you too. Heck, you might fall for one of them instead [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

*sigh* Rule #1 on women(well, maybe not 1 but close): If you intend to date her, do not become her friend first. Trying the friend then dating route usually never works or is disasterous in the end. Date, then become friends.

I guess I should have been more specific. I am looking for a way to get rid of this crush in any way I can. I know that a crush is just a senseless infatuation or what have you, but the point is I don't know how to get RID of it. It has been irritating me for a good month now. I'm asking..."how do i get over this?"

Ohhh... well if you just want the crushness to go away walk up to her and say "Hey, I have a huge crush on you. You wanna go out with me?" <---- that's guaranteed to mean SOMETHING. It should help your "problem" that you're going though.

Like I said, it's hard to explain how to stop. I did, but I can't remember how. I just remember it was a slow process. I suppose I just slowly began to get a superiority complex. I'll back to you when I think on this more.

actually, i do have one idea. Get involved in some kind of activity that involves real social interaction. If it was physical, that would help too. Also, you have to start being selfish. To hell with what everyone else wants, it is all about you. Act the way you want, dress the way you want, talk the way you want, do what you want. If you are having crushes, that also means you are in a state of "subserviance" to pop culture and that is bad. You should serve no one but yourself. Now, I don't mean when it comes to rules and laws. I mean the unofficial rules all around you. Do what you want regardless of the petty expectations of others.

Axis has a good idea, but you don't have the confidence (see: guts) to do it. That's the problem with it.

Just remember that YOU are the prize, not the women.

Best way to get around this....

Go to the mall, buy nice expensive clothing you see on the mannequins. Get hair gel. Do your hair, nails, eyes, and clothing. Wear a nice belt and shoes. Smile and talk with a cute little accent.

Unless of course you really do have an interest IN GIRLS. In that case, just try to go about it casually. Looking back on my middle school/high school crushes a lot of the girls I thought that would laugh at me and call me a loser and never look at me actually did want me to talk to them. How do I know? Well, I've seen a lot of them where I work and have talked to them and just in casual conversation it's like "I used to have the biggest crush on you!" and it's like "Me too!"

Girls are attracted to guys too, it's not a one-way thing.

Well, I've like this girl for like, the whole freakin' year! And it's driving me insane dammit! I don't want to like anybody, and asking her out won't help me, I gurantee it! I just want to get rid of it, but everytime I see her, or talk to her, I crack up and get emmotional. IT PISSES ME OFF! Once I'm in high school, or maybe even collage, THEN I'll think about it. *Grumbles*

Well, you could get your friends to dress up like her, with a mask and everything, then humiliate you horribly. That way, subconsiously you'd see that everytime you see her. You'd get over it mighty quick.*

First of all get to know her. If you don't know her much then you don't have that much chance in my opinion.

Talk to her whenever you can - make friendly conversation. When you know her enough, ask her out on a date.

Whatever you do, don't randomly confess your undying love for her. Don't you think you'd be a little freaked out if someone you hardly know suddenly confesses they really like you?

Anyways, good luck.

Oh, do I know your problem. I am suffering myself. I am a freshman in H.S. and I am friendly with this girl who is a junior. She has a boyfriend, but won't admit it...she just says they're close, but not in an actual relationship. I've got a big-time crush on her, but the fact that she is two years older and has a "boyfriend" makes any chance of a relationship next to impossible.

Do you feel my pain?!?!
