Uh... Sarn, there is difference between disagreeing with a homosexual's practices... and wanting to see them arrested for it. I mean, as a Christian you probably disagree with Hindu beliefs... but you surely you wouldn't support an attempt to make Hinduism a crime, would you?

I fail to see how this is “standing up against homosexuality,” or rather why homosexuality needs to be stood up against in the first place. It’s not like homosexuals are trying to force you into being gay too; they have no effect on you or the Rhea County Commissioners, so just leave them alone.

No no, I suppose I do sound a bit intolerant. I am merely thinking along the lines of what God did to Sodom and Gamorrah for basically the same thing as homsexuality. I fear a similar fate for the US if this sort of thing continues, and for that reason am glad that there is obvious and clear opposition.

I do realize that many of you will not share my opinion, but that's just how it is for me... I'm not interested in seeing homosexuals get arrested (I'll refrain from a 'bending over to grab the soap' type prison joke here), I'm merely happy that there are people in positions of power fighting this push to make gay marraiges legal.

And, I know you guys won't necessarily like this opinion of mine, but consider that I'm merely expressing my opinion, not bashing anyone...

So, once again:

I like the part about how the town holds an annual festival for the Scopes Monkey Trial.

I want to go see it. I wonder if it'll be anything like the Klan rallies in the movies.

I think the main reason that fate was enacted on sodom and gamorrah was because every single person there (except Lot and his family) wanted to rape the two angels sent there. it didn't have much to do with homosexuality, i think.

Force? Not exactly. Advocating? Too an extent if not more evidently.

By allowing homosexuality to run out in the open (where young, uneducated, developing eyes/minds can see them), they are (in a sense) forcing their 'behavior' on future generations. After all "Monkey see, monkey do."

Just because people see homosexual practices does NOT mean that people will go and do them on their own. It just means those that feel naturally inclined to that kind of lifestyle will not be afraid to 'come out of the closet'. Besides, homosexuality helps stabilize our booming population.
While I don't like homosexuality personally, I think it's high time they get equal rights. Religion seems to be the only real barrier for this though, because Christianity so adamantly condemns homosexuality. Oh, and by the way, whatever happened to seperation of church and state? Especially in a country where more and more people are becoming Aetheist. I'm sick of it.

No it doesn't, most people believe have a choice. However, to believe one's choice, character, and most basic self is not molded by one's family is an idea that goes against the entire concept of a family.
Whether it matters or not, to say it has no effect at all (and the effect wouldn't necessarily be that the child becomes homosexual) is a pretty wild idea.
Quote:
It just means those that feel naturally inclined to that kind of lifestyle will not be afraid to 'come out of the closet'.
Perhaps, but that's an assertion simillar to the one people made when they decide that divorce would have no psychological effect on the child, only to later be proven wrong when the children grew up and said different.
Quote:
While I don't like homosexuality personally, I think it's high time they get equal rights.
Agreed, their choice doesn't void their right to equal respect, love, and protection under the law. But saying the union of a man and a man or a woman and a woman is the same thing as that of a man and a woman is, as far as I'm aware, a radically new, and in my belief incorrect, idea.

People are bothered because it's a big step along the path we've been going down for a long, long time, of the government affirming that love=sex.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.
