Since it was founded pretty much like that? Probably not.

I actually think this is a waste of time and will only do practically nothing in the long run since it will be overturned soon and it will only waste my federal tax dollars. Those I believe should be prosecuted are those illegally handing out marriage documents like candy when they know very well it is illegal to do so and even worse they are changing those documents to reflect what they want. I mean since they're able to do that is there nothing stopping them from changing convicted felons sentences? These people that were put in place to uphold the law are spitting in its face.. Those are the people that I think we need to be going after.

I think the county's proposed law is ridiculous, and I agree the ones who are breaking the law should be prosecuted.

As an executive officer of the government, it is not their place to pick and choose what laws they feel like enforcing, or to judge the fairness of the law, which is supposed to reflect the will of the people. They should leave it to the legislature or the courts.

It's a pretty scary time when our government can decide that the will of the people is irrelevant, and our laws are meaningless if they say so, and then get away with it because no one wants to touch a contraversial issue.

When SC decided a law handed down to it shouldn't be enforced, the President sent in the National Guard(not that I'm suggesting anyone should be so heavy-handed in this particular situation).

I am merely thinking along the lines of what God did to Sodom and Gamorrah for basically the same thing as homsexuality. Then surely God should be the one doing the judging and not humans? Everyone has sin...

People persecuting people because they have sin? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif] I think we shouldn't try to do that ourselves imo.

Force? Not exactly. Advocating? Too an extent if not more evidently.

By allowing homosexuality to run out in the open (where young, uneducated, developing eyes/minds can see them), they are (in a sense) forcing their 'behavior' on future generations. After all "Monkey see, monkey do."

We've had this debate before. Many, many times. The general conclusion of the historically-inclined was that the US government wasn't flagrantly religious until the Cold War. The general conclusion of the high school dropouts was that the US was founded by Christians, praise the Lord, kill the heathen leaders and convert the Muslims to Christianity, etc etc etc.

For the most part, before Redscare. What their motivation was is totally up to you, but I have two possibilities:

1.) OH NO, THE TOTALITARIANS ARE ATHEISTS. CLEARLY THIS MEANS THAT THEY'RE EVIL.

2.) OH NO, THE TOTALITARIANS HAVE A GOVERNMENT-ENFORCED RELIGION, WE'D BETTER HOP ON BOARD.

But pardon me, I'm still bitter and angry at the cluster of people who simultaneously claim that "In God We Trust" has always been your national motto, and that it's somehow "symbolic" for a multitude of different religions and atheism.

The United States was founded on Christian ideals, because all the founding fathers were non-Catholic Christians, but that goes for pretty much all Western nations. The US has ever been a "Christian Empire" of any sorts. If you want that, go study European history, pre Protestant Revolution.

The problem with saying that the new world was based on Christian ideals is that, for the most part, the entire world agreed with those principles on a basic level (ie. right to life, ownership of property). The big things which we can criticize other cultures for, Christianity grew out of - such as the mistreatment of women and slavery.

It's just a question of time, but I suppose the belief that our enemies are naturally violent and animalistic is a lot more comfortable than facing the fact that people are dying.

Mkay, I'm just gonna come out and say this. To say that a union between two members of the same sex and two members of different sexes are different things is absolutely true. The key difference is that heterosexual unions are by and large a sham. Over FIFTY PERCENT of heterosexual marriages end in divorce/anullment of some kind. Homosexual marriages? Practically nil. You know why? Because there is so much crap that they have to go to because intolerant religious zealots don't want them to be married. You know what I say about protecting the institution of marriage? Make marriage only between a homosexual couple. Obviously they're doing a better job protecting the institution than the straight folks.

The actions of a single county does NOT mean that the entire nation is a "Holy American Empire." Convince: LA, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Cook counties to pull this stunt off. Here's a Snicker's Bar.
