Ahhh, well I dont know about your setup maybe you have a cupboard or something, but my DVD collection is on several shelves right next to the TV. So the time I'll spend with the DVD spine in my view is much higher than the time I'll spend actually watching the DVDs [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Widescreen=pure. Like snow, like unblemished silver, unrusted, stainless chrome. Black and white, silver and shadow.

I like it. A little nod to the original poster art and Darth Vader's helmet at an angle like that = cool to me. I might just wait another year for the six-DVD pack of all the movies, however.

As for the complaints of the very originals, just make sure you keep your Digitally Remastered VHS trilogy (from 1995) in good condition, because no one likes keeping their first cuts that they weren't totally satisfied with. Same goes with George Lucas and the Special Edition Trilogy. The Special Edition is his definitive version. Though personally, I saw some places where the special effects could have REALLY been cleaned up and they didn't take the opportunity.

it actually looks pretty good. For the "official" packaging I was expecting some hand-drawn stick figures done by George Lucas. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I personally like the gold the most-- silver looks a little too bland.

do you really think there going to do all six in one package??? i doubt it (at least not for a while), theyll do 4,5,6 in one package and 1,2,3 in another that way they make more $$$$. then maybe to a special all in one many yrs from now.

i have the non special ed version on vhs. but i may get this set in wide screen(when they release ) for DVD .

I've got the original Trilogy on film (purchased when a theatre closed locally), I've got the first release of the Triolgy on VHS in the OLD box with fold outs, I've got the 20th Aniversary Edition Trilogy, the Special Edition Trilogy in gold box, a Trilogy set in the clear plastic packaging (bought it cause it looked neat), the original Trilogy on Laserdisc (remember my thread?), and now I'll have the widescreen version of this Trilogy set. I can only hope that Lucas stops smoking crack some time and realizes that he'll make eight bundles more money if he releases the original Trilogy on DVD.

It's not silver, it's platinum.

Platinum is better than gold. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

They could put both cuts of the movie on the disc. They did that withthe Alien box set.

They would then probably have to make each disc double-sided, and the discs already are probably dual-layered. (Double-Sided is actually one disc, but you have to flip it over. Dual-Layered is 2 DVD-5's stamped together, and then with a layer-change.) So, that would be a pretty mega DVD, considering that the bitrate quality is probably really high as it is, and Lucasfilms is too lazy probably. They'd maybe get more money this way for those very very very die hard fans who will buy both of the sets just to have the SILVER AND GOLD!!!

yeah they'll release it as many times as they can to make as much money as they can. even though i know that, i still am tempted to go out and get it anyway. and that is why they do it. geeks like me.

i personally didn't care for the special editions. now that i think about it, i don't really care for the new movies either. so getting the first three boxed like this isn't such a bad idea. if it has the original on there.

I just hope they fix the black spot on the emporer's hood. That annoyed me a lot. It would have taken me maybe a few days to do a better job of photoshopping each frame, and im not even the best at photoshop, but even a sample taken from another part of his cloth would have been better than a big darker black blob. :P

Having both cuts on the same disc wouldn't take much more space than just having the Special Edition. The Special Edition adds a few new things and modifies a few scenes. All they'd need to do is include both the original and modified versions of the modified scenes and have two playing orders. They did this with The Lion King Special Edition and the Alien Special Edition.

or maby there are more people that liked the pequels than you want to admit and George lucas does not want them to have to spend 300 dollars on a box set that they aldready have half the movies containd within.

how would you like to pay for 6 dvds when you only want 3 of them

Dude, he's talking about the Special Edition. The Special Edition was released LONG after 1982. He was alive, and Photoshop was around.
