Bring Back Kirk
2004-03-25, 10:34 PM #1
http://bbk.darthdavid.com/

This is todays SA Awful Link of the Day... a website dedicated to bringing Kirk back to life in Star Trek. Download and watch the trailer, I couldnt stop laughing through the entire thing. These people have way too much free time on their hands.

I like Star Trek as much as the next nerd... but lets face it. It's past its prime. Bringing Kirk back would just be another nail in the coffin. I hope the guys that run this site are doing it for humors sake, and that they arent serious about this.

Don't bring back Kirk, but put William Shatner in more movies. That man is a comedic genius.

Forget Kirk, they need to cover the Excelsior with Sulu or Riker with the Titan. Anything's better than Kirk. Even his death in Generations was too much..

the trailer is a great trailer for a fan movie, keep it at that.

It was well designed and put together and if it was made into a fan film i'd defintly watch it and enjoy it, but if they seriously want to bring kirk back to the silverscreen... let the character die...

i've been told shatner has been ruining the character with some of his books... his character i think destroyed the borg in one book... let him die!

I was told that B-4 wasn't really data -- simply an extremely dumb-downed version of him. They can't simply "upgrade" B-4, either, because his positronic matrix was extremely rare in its stability.

ENT's first season was good... but i hope they get over this sex-guns-blah thing before season 4 =/

oh and Wolfy, i'm sure Geordi can upgrade B4 some... after all, he IS from Reading Rainbow (=

maybe this should be the anti-Berman and Bragga thread? Berman was an okay writer for TNG since Roddenberry was there for a while... but the two of them now are just *bleh*

That clip . . this thread . . than DS, I needed a good laugh. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Jedigreedo: No. B-4 is not Data, and can never be.

Its simple, really. Soong-type adroids are built around a neural network composed of decaying positrons - a positronic brain. It is extremely difficult to create a stable positronic network, which is why Soong failed so many times, and why Lore went psycho. While B-4's network might be stable, IE he isnt going to drop dead anytime soon (like Data's daughter did) - his brian is far too simple to be able to handle Data's memories. And besides, Data was more than the sum of his memories.... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

That was like the coolest Trek Video I've seen since the last few seasons of TNG. I miss the old cast. I miss the old stories. That'st he thing about Archer, in his series, you keep waiting for something that isn't happening. You're waiting for him to become the Star Trek the we all know, and it doesn't happen. /rant

So I'll go over in the corner, since I like Enterprise. Like last week's episode (a rerun I'm pretty sure -- guys who have some religon around the spheres take over Enterprise) was EXACTLY the type of Star Trek that I enjoyed from TOS and TNG.

I never really catch Enterprise anymore, but when I do, within 5 minutes of the show coming back from commercial (yeah, it's always on a commercial when I get to the channel), Trip and T'Pol are going through some soap opera-like crap where Trip can't get her out of his head and what-not. Yikes...is he a grown man or one of the guys here from Massassi? Oh wait, no...Massassians have more dignity than to spew that tripe. (Maybe that "e" is what the show's been missing all along?) Seriously...Voyager ended on a good note. Most everybody from that went onto Enterprise, which always has been and ever shall be...a bunch of crap.

Archer is a horrible captain, and a horrible human being. I hope that every episode that ship finally gets destroyed, and the records of it's existance destroyed by Star Fleet.

I once got back from a party that finished too early, completely hammered. So anyway, I was sitting there in my living room, watching the superbike racing with my dad and my bro. Two 45 minute races later I was still drunk and now Enterprise was on. I SWEAR that vulcan girl, T'Pol(I think) look completely like a man.

I think the races were at Laguna Seca

TOS, much of TNG, and the first six movies are exempt from "suck" status. I cannot say the same for everything else in Trek*.

-Fox

*DS9 was actually pretty good in most respects, in addition to a few Voyager episodes.

Your right, although I would say that /most/ of VOY was pretty good... "Enterprise", on the other hand, sucks noodles.

Meh, Shatner ruined TOS with his acting. ST IV V and VI we're alright. Everything TNG owned except for the films (First Contact exempt). DS9 was boring until Worf joined the crew. The only rewarding thing that came out of Voyager was Seven.

Sorry, you can't possibly claim that all of TNG was perfect (or even good)...

There were a lot of episodes in the first two seaons with no plot, no acting, and no point. After that it started getting a lot better, though.

I guess I'm one of a very small set of people who actually liked DS9.

No, DS9 rocked. It was simple too much of a departure from Roddenberry's vision for most people...

Yeah the 1st two seasons of TNG were...eh. I think they tried to have the same feel as the original series. Then they saw that tactic sucked and well...it got much better!

It's hard for me to get into the original series mainly because it ended some 18 years before I was concepted. I enjoy TNG thoroughly. DS9 and VOY were ok. But it had a lot more "Soap Trek." Enterprise has got to do something PDQ about its writers. C'mon man!

hay hay hay! ENT is good and belongs in there with everything elce. If there was some series lacking in Star Trek it is VOY. I mean really, Janway can only quote the prime directive and have fights with 7 so many times before it gets old.

Archer is the opposit of her, because there is no prime directive, so he's bending the rules (of decency) and tourchering people. not a quality i hold in high regard.
