It's because most Christians arent aware that other movies about Christ exist.... like The Greatest Story Ever Told... or my personal favorite, the Life of Brian

It is. It's -the- worst movie I've ever seen. The violence is irrealistic (christians will argue this, but any normal human being - which jesus supposedly was - would have died or at LEAST passed out halfway through), instead of adding actual content, the whole movie is jesus getting the crap beat out of him from start to finish, alot of the actors just plain sucked, satan's depiction was laughable...

During the "lashing" I could have sworn I saw him pass out?
Besides, I do not believe that particular scene was an accurate representation.
The Bible says that he was beaten 39 times, 40 lashes supposedly caused death.
So, He was probably on the verge of death and he more than likely didn't stand in front of the mob in his mockery clothing, likely he was held by roman guards.

So... Yeah, He got a fair beating and probably did pass out, any normal human would have and he came as a normal human.
Friends is over. Kill yourself.

I'm a Roman so I thoroughly enjoyed it.

They should've at least put some more content instead, and save the beatings for the end. The violence was impressive for about fiften minutes. After that, there's just so much of it that you become indifferent to it.

My thoughts exactly.

Well the whole nature/purpose of the movie was a modernization of the medieval Passion Plays from the middle ages, which showed the last days and death of Jesus. Passion itself comes from the word for 'suffering' as i recall. So of /course/ that's what it is going to focus on.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

The Passion of the Christ.[/U]

Athiest[/U] - That movie was just a boring film where we watch a guy get beaten for like 2 hours, and the devil was just stupid. No man could be beaten that much without passing out or being dead. Mel Gibson is a moron.

Christian[/U] - Jesus dies for our sins, and he is our savior not an ordinary man. The movie moved me, made me cry, and was accurate to the bible. Mel Gibson is amazing.

SAJN_Master[/U] - Mel Gibson? Wasn't he in Lethal Weapon? That's cool. Oh so he made a movie about Jesus? Good for him... I guess. Chricest Chricest, Baby...Yeah, I'm going to go watch porn now.

Omegamullet[/U] - " 'The Passion of the Christ' was the most moving film of the year, and quite arguably ever." - USA Today

I must beg to differ...You see, the so-called 'Christ' was crucified within the first 20 minutes of the film, and after that he didn't go anywhere. Whereas in "The Bourne Supremacy" the main character is constantly running and moving. Therefore, in a factual sense, "The Bourne Supremacy" was the most moving film of the year.
Think while it's still legal.

My question is: did Jesus die on the cross a human being, or as a part of The Holy Trinity?

Never cared for the movie... but that still gives me a right to bash it! :p
