Mikus, I still use IE 90% of the time. I have Firefox, and it's not as great as everyone tries to make it sound. The only thing with IE is that you have to be extra vigilant to protect yourself from spyware and other things.

Since I've started using firefox, I've not had the spyware problems that I had with IE. My homepage has never been reset to some site I've never heard of and I've never had bookmarks added to my list without me knowing it. All of the above i annoying as hell and it sucks when it happens. I don't have to deal with that anymore. That combined with firefox's tabbed browsing and pop-up blocker make it better than any form of IE I've ever used.

I've never had any of those problems with IE, either, Avenger.

I run ad-aware every few months, and at the most it will find a few cookies.

It does them better than people give it credit for, but worse than it should. Nobody should really have any trouble making the average standards-compliant site work in IE6, they may have to alter their approach a bit but no nasty hacks are required. The real problem is that quite a few people still use IE5 which does require hacks.

Microsoft reassembled the Internet Explorer team for SP2 (they had previously been disbanded after winning the browser war against Netscape), the new team are listening to criticisms (although the majority of comments they receive, when they ask for them, are extremely immature and hostile) and are pretty keen to make the next proper release as W3C-compliant as possible. One of them joked about coming up with an amazing new feature called "tabbed browsing", oddly very few people from the Mozilla or Opera camps seemed to believe it was a joke.

If they make IE better, cool, but I still won't use it. If for no other reason than the fact that it will STILL be the 'holiest' *badum PSH* browser, just based on the fact that it is the most popular. That's part of the reason why firefox doesn't have many holes.

I couldn't live without mouse gestures.

I wish I could use mouse gestures in everything. In real life, too. Wave my hand down-right and the door closes!

I agree. It's stupid and pointless to argue over this issue. Personally, I couldn't give a flying rat's *** what browser I use, as long as it let's me view the Internet and doesn't take up much of the screen.

One thing you can't deny, is that when it comes to browsing porn sites, and lots thereof, compared to IE , firefox/mozilla is ****ing IRON-CLAD BABY

I have used IE forever and I've never had any problems with it. The only time I ever use Firefox is when I'm running Lunix.

I prefer Firefox because my IE is so spywared that it autostarts every time I boot up and gives me spyware-deleting spywares that spy on my spyware. :)

Why Firefox is the best porn browser

* Tabbed browsing, a faster alternative to multi-window browsing.
o Unlike new browser windows, new tabs open instantly.
o Ctrl+clicking or middle-clicking a link opens it in a background tab so you can continue reading or clicking links while the page loads.
* Pop-up blocking. Firefox blocks pop-ups by default.
* Security. Malicious web sites can never create hard-to-close full-screen windows or install software without your permission.
* Privacy. Everything you might want to clear (cookies, cache, download history, history) is in one place in Options.
* Extensibility. The Pornzilla bookmarklets and extensions can improve your porn surfing experience far beyond what any browser vendor would dare.
* New windows open quickly.
* You can control whether videos are displayed in the browser window or saved in the "Downloads" section of Firefox's options.
* File > Save As... works for movies being displayed by the Quicktime plug-in.
* All visited URLs are shown in location bar autocomplete, so you can quickly see which galleries and which images you've seen within a given site.
* What other browser has an image-rendering library called "libpr0n", a code name like "Seamonkey" (see monkey), or a slogan like "free the lizard"?

No porn on that site, just *really* useful tips, bookmarklets and extension suggestions

One thing I love about IE...

You can stick an address bar on your taskbar. If IE is your default browser, you can type in the name of a program and it'll load it up. "mspaint" and it'll load up mspaint. "winamp" and it'll load up winamp. If Firefox is your default browser, it won't do this, it'll try to go to http://mspaint.com or something. Now, unless there's an extension that enables this for Firefox, IE will remain superior because this feature is invaluable.

You can do that with Firefox too. I forget how, but I've seen it done.

Thats a function of the explorer bar, it works regardless of having what you use for netsurfing.
If you type a web address in the bar, it opens up the site in your default browser, if you type mspaint, you get mspaint.
Or at least, mine does... I have no idea why yours isn't working with firefox, it really should.

Hhahaha your Windows is broke, I laugh at you. I use Firefox and this works fine for me.

I type in www.mzzt.net, it opens my site. I type in mspaint and it opens *surprise* mspaint!

The reason is that whatever you type in there is passed to windows. Windows will treat what it sees as a program name by default and try to launch it, UNLESS it sees the http:// or another protcol or www., in which case it launches the default browser for those.

It's the same thing as the run dialog, except Run > Address Bar... shortcut keys rock. :D

How?

When I type "mspaint", it in fact tries to go to http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/mspaint/

This might be useful if I were checking what various processes were, but I don't do this often enough for it to be a useful 'default'.
