Who got the OT on DVD?

If you never saw the original 3 films, how the hell are you supposed to know about Anakin at the end....Screw matching them together with the original 3 ^_^
Think while it's still legal.

The Temura Morrison voice-over seriously pisses me off. I might just not get it.

I haven't heard it yet, but judging from his performance in Ep. II, he doesn't sound NEARLY as threatening in that suit as the actor that played Boba Fett did.

I have to be up early tomorrow, but I've already decided I'm sitting through all of ESB tonight, so I'll post here when it's over to tell you what I think.

Personally, I think you're examining the movie way too much. :p Also, if I remember right, the flashes were yellow originally. If anything is to blame for these other "colour changes" you mention, it's probably the process used to bring it from analog to a digital source. That, or it could be the quality of your TV/the video cables connecting your player, etc.

I'm glad I bought this. Got a free poster too for reserving, w00t. In addition, I get a $15 rebate. Not too shabby. The first thing I watched were all the bonus materials. I won't spoil anything too terribly, but the Episode III preview was... spinetingling. Which is a good thing. :) All in all, I recommend this to any Star Wars fan or even casual watcher.

P.S.: All of the rumours about things being changed are false. It's exactly the same as the Special Edition, but cleaned up for the digital format.

I was wrong. Saw a bit of each, and assumed too much apparently. The changes surprisingly did not detract much, IMO. Greedo and Han simultaneous shooting was surprisingly awesome when I actually saw it.

Yeah, I liked Jeremy Bulloch, but it does make the continuity fit better. Like a famous director once said, "Films are never truly finished, they are only abandoned." If this is true, then you original-version diehards are hard pressed for luck. :/ Personally though, I own the THX Remastered and Special Edition trilogies on VHS, and will probably watch them from time to time just for nostalgia's sake.

Now, when is that THX-1138 DVD coming out? I've been wanting to rent it ever since I heard it announced.

actually he was ripping off what a famous artist said

but i don't like the change of boba fett's voice... just because he is a clone doesn't mean his voice will be the same... many things contribute to a person's voice

True, but you'll notice in AOTC that Boba at his young age already has the same dialect as his father. *shrug* Makes sense to me, and the new Star Wars audiences will get it quicker.

I have to concede the point. I've watched all the films again, here's my verdict..

ANH: Great looking. The lightsaber flash seemed odd it being yellow and such, but other then that, not bad. Jabba looked better too, I think.

ESB: I haven't seen all of this one yet, I just changed to the saber duel. Anyway, its definently not too bad. Granted, Jango's voice didn't seem to add anything. I like the previous guy's better. But it didn't ruin the whole movie.

ROTJ: The Hayden add-in: I have to admit, I was worried about this. I still can see why he did it, but I don't agree with it. But he pulled it off a bit better than I expected.

I haven't finished with ESB yet (I was falling asleep last night by the time the Bounty Hunter scene rolled around). However, what I heard of Fett, has me completely convinced the change sucks. Maybe 'sucks' is too strong a word. I definately dislike it. I mean, before, even with the few lines he had, when he spoke, he sounded threatening. He sounded like a badass. Now... he just sounds normal... The edge to his voice is just gone. meh.

I watched RotJ during dinner. I very much dislike the tail end of the movie now. The effect fits perfectly. But that version of Anikan is simply out of place there. My dad walked in at that point and said, "Who the hell is that?".

While the Jabba in ANH is now a vast improvement over the one in the SE version, he still looked different and slightly out of place. Like the realism just wasn't there. The RotJ Jabba > * other Jabbas.

I thought the TPM Jabba was pretty well done. *shrug*

About Anakin: I'm going to try not to get all that philosophical here...

My reasoning is that Anakin looked like that before he turned to the dark side, and his clothing being the same as Obi-Wan's (lighter in colour, simplistic) further shows he has redeemed himself and is at last in peace. And hey, we can even assume that ghosts in Star Wars look to those who see them as they see themselves. Anakin's heart was filled with the energy of the light side when he passed away, and you could say that his youthfulness of before he became a Sith lord was back. Anyways, it's all a matter of your point of view. Watching all six, new viewers would most likely react better when they see a familiar face being Anakin's ghost rather than the crusty old git in the Vader suit.

To put it quite bluntly. I'll take the custy old git in the Vader suit over Hayden what's-his-face anyday.

I think the Gold box is fullscreen, Platinum box is widescreen. You surely should check this out, unless you haven't already.

To me it looks like Anakin came back in the form he was in, when he was still good. That he doesn't appear in his older form implys IMHO that he didn't really turn to the light side in the end but it was Darth Vader that really died.
I don't like the new moral behind that. Before the change it was that there is good in even the worst people if you just try to give them a chance.
Now Anakin died as a bad man and not a good one. :(

A very stong point of view here. I hadn't though about it like that, but it does make sense. It's kind of sad, yes, and contradictory also, because it was the old Vader who was redeemed in the end.
