My initial response was to show that you were stating an opinion, not a fact (your opinion was presented as if it were a fact). I did this by showing that while you may think tofu "horrible", other people actually enjoy it. Honestly, me pointing out that some people like tofu was about as pointless and as obvious as you pointing out that you (some people) don't like it. Either way, I think that we're agreeing, in a weird sort of way. Our disagreement is simply semantics.
I'm sure that you and I aren't the only ones who picked up on the underlying point. While SAJN does (and many times does) have a valid point, he often seems to go a bit far. With SAJN, it's more often how he says things, not what he says. I was bothered by the whole straight-edge vegetarian punk trend while I was in high school (almost 8 years ago) as well. The point is that while many of these folks are simply seeking attention and trying to belong, some of them will grow up to realize that this so-called trend is actually a worthwhile issue. Almost all of these people that I went to school with grew up only to begin eating meat again, and to ditch their teenage angst music, and even trade in their skateboards for cars. People go through phases, some of them strange, and maybe even ignorant, but this particular phase has some validity in the minds of many.
