Bush and Kerry Debate Thead: No Debating Allowed
2004-09-28, 8:20 PM #1
Ok guys, who is the better debater?
Herr Kerry oder Bush?
No debating in this thread though, because I don't want a flame war.

Bush is a masterdebater...

*snicker*

Um, how would we know? We haven't seen them debate and I doubt anyone remembers the 2000 debates or the Democratic primary debates. Did people even watch any of those?

I watched them, in my opinion Kerry loses. Kerry just can't debate, he just preaches like he has something to say; he only pretends though.

haha if you watched touch crowd tonight, collin did a perfect impression of kerry making a speech at the begining. god i love that show.

but yeah, as much as i hate to admit it, kerry will be destroyed.

As my english teacher put it, what most people say in one sentence, Kerry says in one paragraph. Not a good thing when your debating.

Kerry will be destroyed, but on the other hand, edwards with pwn cheney.

I heard a Kerry campaign rep admit that Bush has won every debate he has been in and that they would have a tough time. My belief is that Bush will own him but we'll see.

Kerry admitted that himself in an interview. Can't remember who the interview was with though.

Personally, I think the two are close to matched, as far as debating goes (While Kerry make not put everything concisely, Bush can't respond to anything that isn't scripted)

However, it is obvious that Edwards, a trial lawyer-turned senator, will tear up Cheney, who is a bald CEO-turned V.P. (a position which isn't worth a bucket of warm P***, according to some previous V.P.s)

Bush can't respond to anything that isn't scripted? I guess that's how the opposition figures he's won every debate he's been in. Then there're the interviews he's done.

Bush says some pretty random stuff though.

I saw a debate between Kerry and John O'Neil from 1972 talking about atrocities in Vietnam and O'Neil was owning Kerry until Kerry was like "Were you there with me at the time when blah blah blah happened and this many people were killed right in front of you?" and O'Neil was like "umm...." and from then on Kerry was killer.

But Kerry doesnt really adapt to fit the questions. He goes in there with a clear mission and doesnt allow himself to get sidetracked. A good debater can tackle everything.

Is Bush still trying to avoid the town hall debate because he's afraid that "some partisans are going to pretend to be unbiased and asked questions"?
That's the only unscripted debate, and he's scared of it.

Kerry is way too monotone when he speaks. That doesn't tranlate very well in debates

I see no debate, I just see normal conversation. I am actually surprised that the thread has lasted so long without a debate breaking out. Anyway, I said Kerry. I just think his debating skills are far superior to Bush. But thats just one mans opinion.

I wasn't aware of him avoiding these types of debates and I thought the second one was already scheduled to be a town hall style debate. And it's not like those questions aren't screened but none of the debates are scripted inasmuch as the candidates are given the questions before hand.

OK, this thread is pretty much fine so far, but as far as *I'm* concerned, anyone who willingly ignores muzein's request that people not start a debate is asking to be banned. Cast your vote and let it be. I did...:p

An anonomous "official" quoted in the Washington Post? Whether that story is true or not the debate is going to happen like it did the last time.
