Mozilla or Firefox?
2004-10-02, 4:18 PM #41
I switched to Firefox a month ago, and so far I've seen:
-No popups
-A huge decrease in the time it takes to load pages
-And tons of useful extensions.

Admittedly, I'm not an expert on security concerns, and I haven't really used Mozilla or Opera for more than an hour, so I can't objectively say Firefox is the best. But I can say that I have no complaints about the browser as it is, and love many of its extensions.

Firefox = Mustang: Fast and sexy, but not overdone with the addons and luxury items, yet still enough to make it nice.

Mozilla = Crown Victoria: Large and luxurious. Very powerful, but is weighed down by all the addons.

IE = Focus: Why bother.....

My take on the whole browser thang... I use Mozilla...

I also drive a Crown Vic.... Coincidence???

Even if I concede that Internet Explorer is faster, Firefox makes up for this by having an efficient interface (i.e. tabs). I don't even feel comfortable using programs that don't have tabs any more.

Not to mention it's less vulnerable to security problems. More customizable (i.e. themes & plugins). And updated more often.

Firefox, still in testing phase, is already better than a "mature" Internet Explorer.

Yeah, I only use IE for two things now:
1) To test out my pages for IE compliance.
2) To surf stupid sites that reuqire IE, where a different site with the needed content is not available.

Firefox is so much better. I can't stand browsers without tabs anymore. Even if it doesn't exceed IE in some places, I stil consider it a very good browser on it's own.

FYI Mozilla differs from Firefox is that Mozilla is a rather large download with many many addons and stuff. Firefox is a very successful attempt to make a browser using the same renderer, in a smaller download (4.7MB! :D).

AND this is the clincher: Is there something in another browser that's not in Firefox? Just get an Extention (ie plugin) for it! The Googlebar is one example of this.

There's also an ActiveX extention, but I don't have it. :p

[Edit: Hmm can't find it, oh well :p]
