That's kinda sad. Isn't that why the other superman killed himself?

Actually it's suspected that George Reeves could've been murdered by his girlfriend/wife (don't remember what she was) and then she just made it look like a suicide. Apparently there was some evidence to point towards a murder, but they never investigated it.

I don't see why people make such a big deal out of deaths concerning celebrities. Why don't we mourn those other regular people that are in the obituary section of the newspaper?
2004-10-11, 5:37 PM #46
Normally I really don't care all that much when a celeb dies because I didn't know'em or anything. But I grew up with the Superman movies, it's how I was introduced to the character and it means alot to me because I still -really- enjoy the movies. So his death was rather personal...

Bear in mind he wrote that before he died.

If that makes any difference. Which it shouldn't. but probably does/

Maddox's whole site is in bad taste, that's practically the point. What makes you think he's gonna change just because some guy died?

Yeah uh hell opinion.

He's blunt. I think he's funny. And honest. In fact I quite agree with everything Bill has said, and with everything Maddox has said as well.

Cheese--who are YOU to criticize ME for having a different opinion than YOURS.

Read the top. He said he changed it cause he died.

I completelly agree with Bill and DJYoshi. Reeve's death is not a trajety, it's poetic justice. I'm sorry he had to die, but you really don't realize what kind of a person he is. I've met him. He's demeaning, he's belittling, and he's a powerhungry, self-ritous *******.

He's the sort of person who we crippled's call a "Sour Gimp." As soon as he was hurt, he became sour. Sure, his televised showings make him out to be a nice guy who wants to help out all of the handicapt children, how nice. Note how he just happens to be a crippled himself. Note how, before this, you wouldn't have seen a slow motion picture of reeves walking down the sidewalk and the words "Thousands of people live with paralysis..." No, you'd see him in some new movie. Reeves is also, as a person, quite mean. He assumes that, because of a physical disability, he suddenly has every right in the world to be a bitter, and hateful person. He has the excuse of "good days" and "Bad days." Mood swings are only acceptable with mentally ill patients. Being a complete *** when someone doesn't hold the silly-straw the way you want it isn't a "bad day" it's called being an *******.

Funny, how just last night I was reading over that article maddox posted. I even bookmarked it on how utterly true it was. (I'd never heard the argument before I read the article, and I'd come to the same conclusion after meeting him) I wake up this morning, and someone tells me reeves died. Ironic?

I can't believe people are agreeing with the most insensitive post I've ever made... And that's saying something coming from me. Maybe I'm not the ******* I thought I was.

Well I've found that I could care less if my post is insensitive--as long as it's true. It's like--if death is so sacred, why don't people bow down when people like Jimmy down the block die? They go "Oh really? That kinda sucks." then on goes life. When a celeb dies, there's weeks of mourning. Unless the celeb's touched you in some way (Mr. Rogers, who has affected us all when we were children, I should think) why does it REALLY matter?

Ok, so he might have been a self righteous scheming *******, I never met him, but he DID do a lot for paralysis and stem cell research.

And Kirby, movie stars are supposed to star in movies, not paralysis infomercials. I can't think of any celebrity off the top of my head that campaigns for a disablility they themselves don't have.

I remember seeing some celeb on a commercial for Parkinsons that didn't have it, and then Michael J. Fox came on. I wonder how that guy's doing nowadays, anyways.

And that's what makes one who does do a commercial, absolutelly self-centered and fake.

And he did give a lot of money... cool. Doesn't mean I should praise him, and mourn his death because he had money, and gave it to crippled. That just means I can be happy that the stupid SOB rode the wrong horse. More money for people who need it.

Ok, that's one and you can't even remember the celeb's name. Besides, I wonder how much money they had to pay him/her to appear in the commercial.

So you can't look past a person's short comings to see how he helped society as a whole and be able to appreciate that?

Not in my thread will you all bicker about Christopher Reeve's past character. I posted this to let the community know about an important news item and for those to express their thoughts on the subject at hand, NOT to have you all squabbling of what kind of man he was in his past. Ok, so he might have been an insensitive p****. People change.

I'm sorry if I come off abrasive. It's midnight, I've had a long *** day and I've got alcohol flowing in me. Not the greatest of combinations. I just want to stop this before it gets out of hand. If it does become out of hand, I ask any admin to close this thread promptly. Whatever they choose to do with individuals is up to their discretion.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I'd say that's a pretty big change.
And the point was this was not meant to be a *****fest, this was just to tell those who care about the death of superman.
Why is it, on any thread I see like this, theres always someone who posts something like "who care's" or "he was an ******* anyway.

As for the South Park episode, it rocked, and I don't see anyone finding it offensive just because he died. People who are offended by stuff like that don't watch watch South Park anyway.

Wow, I can't believe people become this desensitized to the truth just because someone died. Do NOT call people 'bad people' just because they refuse to excuse someone of their life of dishonorable deeds simply because they croaked.

And that comic shows just how foolish people are. "But then he became paralysed, now he's a better person!"

No.

Now I'm done. You can go on with the mourning of someone none of you knew. I'll just go on my merry way, knowing the truth.

Reeves was one of the few celebrities who donated to people that fought for life threatening diseases etc. He was in a group of actors that tried to cut the red tape of the government about putting funding for life threatening diseases and handicaps....This was before his accident.
