...about the way it hits you.

currently i'm a bit drunkl so excuse the errors or whatever.

but the crack is:

i was reading that tucker max site and his most prominent story mentions something about alcohol hitting at a constant rate... does this ring true with you./?

i think it does, it would be nice if one of you smart, resourceful and focused massassians posed some source materia;l.

my argument is a bit simple but: i necked off a ****load of vodka and it does seem to be slowly coming upon me, yet when j was about 15 i necked about 2/3 of a bottle og the stuff ad it hit me quck and i was sick for hours, good times :).

ah welkl, this is a rant about booze and the ins and outs of it.... if you've got nothing to say about the point i raise, post something funky about some crazy time you drank too muych.

i've twice had a wrestling match with [eople in the middle of the road complete with danger of oncoming traffic, fun times.

anyone got anything comedy to add?

Personally, it depends on how much I drink and how fast I drink it. If I down 6 shots in just a few minutes, I'm fine and then they all hit me a few minutes later and I'm **** faced, so to speak. It also depneds on how much I've had to drink prior. If I'm already fairly drunk and do the same thing, there is no question that the shots will hit me like bricks.

This is a site about various computer games and a particular set of science fiction movies. I personally don't feel this is an appropriate discussion. I strongly suggest that minors DO NOT under any circumstances break the law by drinking underage. Further, I recommend those of you off to college or just hitting 21 or whatever drink only in moderation. I've seen enough people's lives screwed up by alcohol that I don't think it's a funny or light-hearted subject by any stretch.

Yeah, same for me. If i drink loads really fast I will go from really sober to rather drunk in a short amount of time. If i drink slowly i'll get drunk slower.. but the effects seem to last longer :-\

Oh and there is a very fine line between "I won't drink too much" and "I don't care how drunk i get".

good words to abide by, and i feel i should say something since it was i who started the thread.

I may only be 18, but its legal to drink at 18 in my country (england).

and i gotta add, those who just started drinking and those who arent all too familiar with it... dont take the ideals of alcohol to heart... use it to wind down and on occasion, have mindless fun, dont use it as an escape or a way to adjust normality... if you feel the need for alcohol to feel normal or get cravings.... seek help... its great stuff, i'll be the first to admit. the sad fact is though, as brian stated, many people make it a dominating factor of their lives and thats something you should never do. please moderate it and dont be stupid!!!

Blegh, alcohol...I prefer my pot :p

But it does the same for me, it gradually hits me instead of all at once. I haven't drank in a long time, so I dunno what it would be like after abstinence for a bit.

Does America have the "oldest" age limit (21) for legal alcohol drinking (conpared to other countries?)

I think so. Nost countries are 18 across the board. My brother was in Sweden this summer and it was 18 for beer and 21 for hard alcohol

Canada has 2 drinking ages!
19 for Ontario and the other western provinces + maritimes (or "Real Canada")
18 for Quebec (aka "Mini-France")

Illegal here...but when I go to Germany this year it will be legal BWHAHAHA....But I won't drink anyway, it all tastes like crap to me...plus I don't like the effects it has on people.
Think while it's still legal.

Yup, America is the only place in the world where 20 year olds cant buy a drink.

Some places like China, Portugal, and Thailand have no official drinking age.

I always found it funny, how at 18, you're old enough to buy pornography, or enlist in the army and possibly get your arm blown off or something.....But you can't buy a drink.
2004-10-13, 9:14 PM #16
I think it's absurd too.

You're old enough to get married, apply for a home loan, buy a house, and start a family, you're old enough to drive, you're old enough to have a say in who runs your country, you're old enough to die for your country, you're old enough to light a cigar to any of those, but you're not old enough to lift a beer... Weird.

Back before the federal government black mailed the each state into changing the legal drinking age to 21, there were many 18 year olds getting killed in highway crashes in less populated areas. Americans can thank the inability of most highschool seniors to make wise decisions for the high drinking age.

I have. Polished off a bottle of 12-year single malt Scotch that night. Passed out on my back. I almost died but for my subconscious wherewithal.

Didn't actually clean it up for the next day and a half, because I was too sick and weak to do it... When I finally regained consciousness I just dragged myself out of bed and passed out again on the floor.

...Uh... yeah, so, don't drink hard liquor when you don't know what you're doing, kids.

The legal drinking age is 18, but you can take a beer as soon as you're old enough to sit around with your dad and chug a cold one after a long day of work :p

and on St-Jean's Day, everyone is legal.

And yeah, I stopped drinking liquor when I was so sick one day I puked blood for a good 2-3 hours. Pure Vodka can be so harsh sometimes. So now I'm beer only, and It's much better anyway.

I don't think it's that strange (although it's not the case in my country). Being a regular bar-goer myself I've seen how immaturely many 18-25 year olds can behave under the influence of alcohol, especially in groups.

I drink till I'm on the verge of paralysis when I go out drinking. Truth is though, I'm not the least bit agressive when I'm drunk. Which is a rarity.

I still act like a pratt though.

My first alchoholic drink I had of my own was when I was 12 at a Christmas party. I had a glass of champagn and a beer.

I'm 16 now and I've never been drunk before and have probably had less than 10 drinks since then.

It just doesn't really appeal to me, that's all.

If it don't appeal to you, you don't have to do it. It's inevitable somebody will try to push you into it sometime in your social future.

A lot of people think it's big to get drunk. That's not the truth at all, it's important to enjoy yourself when you're still young, and that's about it.

It depends greatly on how much you've eaten.

I once had a fifth ov vodka on a full stomach and just got tired (and puked) but not drunk. Recently, I downed not even half a bottle of canadian rum (although that doesn't include nearly a liter of rum and mountain dew) and got drunk in like 5 minutes. This is a fun thing to do on public transportation.

And another thing, you body can only filter alcohol out at a certain rate (I don't remember the number, someone else supply it if you know) so you can get drunk faster then all get out and still take 4 hours to sober up. But it depends on what you drink, how much, and how fast.

If you drink at about the same rate your body filters it out, you can stay nicely drunk for hours on end. But if you drink too much too fast, your liver can't handle it and it sends an 'eject' message to your stomach.

Be wary.,

:p

Last time I got too drunk I wound walking 45 minutes from the bar (not far from the airport here) to my place (at the other end of town), falling down and ripping my pants, and staring at my co-worker's boobs far more than I should have been. :o She had been flirting with me, but the thing is that I'm a very polite guy that never stares at a girl, even if she's flaunting it in my face.

Alcohol made me impolite :(

The only time I've ever thrown up from drinking too much was in Prague. 5 pints of Guinness, 2 pints of the local house, and a shot of Absynthe. That stuff will mess you up.

Usually I can drink around 6-7 beers and be fine and not feel sick at all. BUT 99% of the time I only have one beer because I agree with the idea that alcohol should be one of those relaxing things like sitting outside after work and just winding down. When it comes to celebrating though it's on. And it has to be a real reason, just having a party isnt a celebration.

18 to drink anything, 18 to buy beer in stores, 20 to buy from the Company, and anywhere from 18 to 25 to get into bars.

I can legally buy hard alcohol in bars, but I can't buy it bottled. :/

Age doesn't really matter... I've seen many older people older than 25 both abuse alcohol, as well as act like morons under its influence.

Very few people adhere to the 21 thing anyway. I think the statistics were some 95% of teens will have had alchohol by the time they graduate from high school.
2004-10-14, 1:09 PM #36
When I first started drinking, I wasn't very responsible about it and did some pretty stupid things. I would puke nearly every weekend, and one time I woke up in the parking lot of a hotel the morning after I left a party, which was about 10-15 blocks away. To this day I have absolutely no recollection of how I got there.

I'm smarter now and very rarely get piss-drunk, certainly not enough to get sick. I have a beer or two most nights of the week but save anything heavier for the weekend.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

You know, I don't doubt you. But maybe I just have a problem with people in general.

Older people getting drunk doesn't have anywhere near as much severity. They might make arses of themselves, but rarely do people get hurt. Main reason being that older people don't feel they have as much to prove.
