Older people getting drunk doesn't have anywhere near as much severity. They might make arses of themselves, but rarely do people get hurt. Main reason being that older people don't feel they have as much to prove.

That would explain the need for such groups as Alcoholics Anonymous and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. :p

The amount of alcohol that I consume really tends to depend on the situation. Sometimes I've had enough after three beers, but when there's a really good night going on(just great atmosphere at the pub, good time with the friend), I'll most likely have a few more. It really tends to depend on my finances and mood, I suppose.
The answer is maybe.

I'm not denying that there are older people with drinking problems. Just that when you're young, it's a very macho, cool and socially just thing to do.

Drink responsibly, boys and girls.

That's so true. when the pub is at its best, the drinks constantly flow.

I, personally, can't trust myself with a whole bottle of liquor. I drink it in such volume that it's all pretty much gone by the time I realize that it is. Last time this happened, bad things occurred.

I'm currently not drinking until I'm 21 (little less than a year to go, about a month and 1/4 into it), but I prefer now to go with lighter stuff. Call me a pussy or pansy or "not a man," but I despise beer and prefer "women's drinks." I know this disqualifies me as a man in some people's eyes -- to paraphrase a certain nameless Massassian/TACCer: "you're such a pussy [...] not everything has to taste like sugar-plum fairy ****."

Meh. I'll live.

I can understand where you come from on that one . . . I hate the taste of beer. I tend twards more "flavorful" drinks, yet I'm also prone to doing shots.

For that, Jager is my poison of choice, and my feelings on it are best sumed up by my friend John, "Its like black licorice is slowly kicking my ***."

(Just as a side note, I am over twenty-one and did not drink a single drop of booze until about a month after I turned 21)

Ahhh, I'm not much of a fan of the beers either. Too much carbonation for my liking. I like hard liquor the best.

Preference scale :
rum > vodka > coolers > white wine > beer > red wine

Don't end up drinking coolers terribly often though. No stories of myself getting totally smashed, either, because I never drink till I puke :P But yeah... alcohol is great if you enjoy it properly.

Sorry if I'm echoing someone but the law in the US never stated that you can't DRINK alcohol under the age of 21. IT said you just can't BUY alcohol until you are 21. You can drink underage as long as you have an adult (perferably a parent) supervision, at least AFAIK.

In the privacy of your own home sure, but as a legal adult, it's illegal to serve alcohol to minors

Well, it's half twelve in the afternoon, and I'm off for a cheeky daytime pint to catch up with a mate. And that's just fine.

Oh, and American Beer has a tendancy to taste not dissimilar to rat's piss, English beer and continental beer is the way forward.

And Tequila is great, as long as you know when to stop.

Not in Missouri. "Minor In Possession" gets you a nice punishment (no sentence, of course) if you're even at a party that they bust and you've been sipping tap water all night.

That always makes sober-driving my friends interesting, and why I'm going to drag that cop's *** to court if he/she gives me an MIP.

I hear Canadian beer is supposed to be some of the best brand's around. But I'm not too sure on that since I don't drink beer.
2004-10-15, 1:35 PM #60
I can testify that Canadians have WONDERFUL beer. Better then some American beer. I personally like Labait Blue and Graville Island in Vancouver makes their own and its AWESOME.

Labatt > Molson

I went out last night, and all there was to drink was Molson Ex. That stuff's lousy :( It's probably still better than your American beer :p

European and Australian beer are the best.

Fosters and Stella-Artois > Rum and bourbon > the rest.

"Older people getting drunk doesn't have anywhere near as much severity. They might make arses of themselves, but rarely do people get hurt."

I'd say this is a very naive statement. Fights and stabbings happen all the time at pubs and bars. To say its rare to see adults get violent under the influence is just plain not true...it happens all the time.

Spirits > *

Absinthe, Whiskey, Brandy, Vodka, Ouzo, Pernon, random liquors, anything, they're great.

some lagers are nice, some taste like piss.
same goes for stouts, beers and ales... some are nice, some are vicious.

aftershock is crap.

any drinks that make my sick taste like sugar are crap.

i drink often, not always a lot.
2004-10-15, 4:02 PM #65
I generally prefer Heinekin, Budweiser, and Jack Daniels. Those are my 3 drinks of choice.

I hate canadian beer. I hate irish beer.

Whiskey... Beer... Bliss...

As far as I'm concerned.. If you're going to drink liquor... Drink liquor. Do some 151 or something if you want to act like a badass. But I'm not impressed if you're walking around with a bottle of vodka... polish a 5th of JD and then I'll bow to the drinking gods.

That may be the popular belief, but I find the taste of Budweiser to be my favorite. So say what you will about anything from Europe or god forbid.. Canada... but I really like Bud.

How does a shot of Goldschlager compare in terms of say a pint of a regular stout? Definitely had 3 beers and a shot and I'm feeling it.

Ex is the students' beer around here :( Lousy ****. :(

Bleue and Black Label are great. I can't really drink Bud anymore, but it's not a Canadian beer, so that's probably why :P Rickard's and Sleeman's aren't too bad, but I rather Bleue.

I like Unibroue's beers too once I've had a couple lighter ones, cause the Unibroue's are typically around 9-10%.

Non-Canadian beers: Stella Artois, Boddington, Hoegarden, Corona - they're all great. Heineken tastes like ****.

The only beer's I've come close to liking are my girlfriend's dad's homemade brew's or Corona's from Mexico.

The corona's they serve in Mexico are double the strength I swear. Because 1 got me drunk... Something not even 5 beer's can do normally..And they were handing them out on the bus from the airport to the hotel :D

So you're basically saying that middle-aged men are just as irresponsible with their drink as young people? You dope fiend.

Sorry, couldn't resist that last bit.
