Not once did I say "your opinion is wrong" (last I checked, that was your line, anyway). Not once did I say the game was perfect, or even close to it. You yourself admitted you were "bashing" it. I was simply "un-bashing" it. You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm entitled to disagree with it. Which... is kinda exactly what I'm doing, if you failed to notice.

And how appropriate that you call me a "fanboy". I'm defending a game. I'm not saying how good it is, or how it's better than everything else, or how if you don't like it you suck. I'm defending it. I find this comment especially amusing coming from someone who zealously argued how Doom 3 was one of the best games ever, and yet you admit in this very thread that you don't even own the game.

Every one of these threads you go on about how much you hated HL1 and how little you're impressed with HL2, and almost every time it turns into something like this. Why don't you maybe, you know, NOT post in them? Everyone already knows what you have to say about it, because you've already said it multiple times. It's getting really, really old.

Personally? I like HL1. I'm looking forward to HL2. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, and I believe I'll enjoy the second. I do not go about saying how awesome the game will be. I do not try to convince people to like it. I do not go about saying that it will be the best game in existence, and that all other games suck. How am I a fanboy? Because I defend something which I, in my own personal opinion, believe to be unfairly criticized?

You go about in almost every HL2 thread I've seen, saying how little you're impressed with it, how bad you think it will be, in some cases, how Doom 3 is so much better. You say things such as "HL1's guns handled like toys", after saying how wonderful DX is. You say how "lame" HL1's thrills are, when it wasn't a very "thrilling" game to begin with. You admittedly bash the game because you don't like it. You also zealously defend other games (such as Doom 3) when you admittedly don't even own it in the first place.

Who's the real fanboy here?

I just read a review of HL2 in a local aussie game mag, they gave it 96% and to call the review "glowing" would be a major understatement. I can't wait.

Jaiph is a fanboy. Didn't you know? It makes you look cool and cultured to not be looking foreward to Half Life 2. It's like people saying the new Green Day album isn't punk, because they think it's cool to not like new music... or to hate it if it gets any popularity at all... that automatically means it's not good, right?

In response to Cow--you're doing it again. You're calling my opinion wrong, without saying it (and by avoiding this phrase, you do give yourself quite a bit of leverage in the argument to those who don't pay attention to the words unsaid). I have played Doom 3 quite extensively, and have loved every minute of it. But have I had the cash to buy it? No. I could pirate it, in a minute. But I respect id too much to do that. So I wait. I don't think it's the best game ever, in fact I've even said, on more than one occassion after the game came out, that I merely thought it was fun and very pretty. Did I think it would be better? A little...maybe. But this is about the pinnacle of id creations--a great engine, and a good game.

Again you bring up the Deus Ex issue--like it even has any relevance. Needless to say, I'm going to stand by each claim I've made.

Why are you defending this game? Because you're a fanboy. That's the only real explanation. Do I voice my opinion in all of these threads? Yes. Why don't I just not post? Because you're not the one that controls what I do, and until you are, I'm going to continually voice my opinion wherever I can, hell I'll even do it just to spite you. I'm sick of you defending this game, why don't YOU stop posting?

Alas, Yoshi, doom 3 looks good and is fun. Half Life 1 was more fun. Half Life 2 will probably BE more fun. And Half Life 2 damned sure looks better.

You really have no room to be calling me a fanboy, as I have exhibited no fanboyish traits in this thread. You also have no room to accuse me of saying "your opinion is wrong", as that phrase was made famous BY YOU.

The fact that you've resorted to calling me a fanboy really doesn't say much for your argument. I've remained relatively civilized through this entire thread, and you have not.
