How much do your parents trust you?
2004-10-21, 6:02 PM #1
Ok, I recently got this thread idea after my parents decided I could do well on my own, and went off for a weekend in Selida, a small country town in the mountains of colorado to check up on my Grandmother and see how she was doing. I thank my parents for this, as I can now show them I am a responsible 13 year old and not be stupid like others.
Soo.... how much do your parents trust you?

Uhh... trust? I'm 18, there really isn't any sort of "trust" anymore. They EXPECT me to stay home for those sorts of things :D

My parents trust me completely.
Pissed Off?

I think everyone's parents trust me more than my own.

I'm so non-understood...

None... guess that's my fault.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Pretty good actually. They don't barge into my room. EVER.

I stay out till whenever (been out till 5 in the morning) on weekends, during the week I've got a curfew of 12 o clock, I pretty much do everything but eat in my room (pests) and stay up late on the comp during the week (gotta get up early). Not only that, but they said when I get a car (next year ~march) I'll just have to let them know where I am. I'd say they trust me quite a bit.

Eh, I'm 26 and live 2600km from my parents and they are still overly protective, well, mainly my mother.

These days the list of important things going on in my life that I don't tell her about to avoid endless nagging and lectures has grown to quite a frickin' long list indeed.

I have brutally strict parents. I'm 17 and I have bedtime of 11:00 on weekdays, and 12:30 on weekends. I usually end up raping that though when I go out. That and my parents are wise to my drinking habits, but they also know that I drink responsibly which is true.

Wait wait wait...you're saying you can go 2600 km in a straight line in Australia without hitting the ocean?

Jaiph's distance sounds like Cairns to Sydney to me, which about what.. 2/3rds the distance down the east coast?

Oh, and you could drive over 4000 km in a straght line in mant different directions without hitting water here. It's a big country.

I hardly consider 4000 Kilometers big, especially for a continent. But that's just me ;).

More than I give them credit for.

I just wish they'd let me choose my own religion, morals, creed, etc.

Too much, lol.

Then again, that's the point of college.

My parents trust me implicity. Immediately following my high school graduation, they allowed me and two friends, all of us minors, to drive from Southern California to mid-Idaho to stay in a cabin we had never seen owned by a cousin of said friend. Not only that, my father allowed us to take his truck (his precioussss) for the trip. I didn't have a drivers license at that point.

Either they have complete trust in me, or they are insane. Granted, I have given them no reason to not trust me, but I wouldn't do that for anyone.

My mom let's me do pretty much whatever I want. She knows I won't do anything stupid.

My parents have always trusted me, they seem pretty confident that they raised me to have a good head on my shoulders.

I've been able to do whatever since a long time. my parents know about my drinking, my smoking, and my preference for music instead of school. and they also know that everything I do is responsible and always well thought-out.

of course, we always slip sometimes, this is what they don't have to know =P

Trusted me enough to go on a holiday with three girls and no money, apparently. They also don't mind me dressing like I do, listening to my own music and choosing my own religion.. heh. Guess they're not that bad after all.
2004-10-22, 5:46 AM #30
I'd say they trust me pretty much... just a couple of weekends ago, my mom gave me her credit card so I could get gas for my truck (usually I pay for it, but I'm broke due to being in university), even though she knew that I was going directly from the gas station to a party... Also the numerous times my family has gone away for like a week, and I've stayed home and taken care of things, etc.

I live far away from my parents, so I do whatever I want now :p

Back in the day though, my parents did leave the house to me a couple times, the first time I was 14. They were gone for three weeks.
2004-10-22, 7:37 AM #32
They trust me to carry myself well. They were, at one time, planning on going out for a week and leaving me home alone, and trusted me to not throw a party. Unfortunately, my dad's business schedule prevented that.

I wouldn't have thrown the party, though. It would have been at someone else's house.

Considering that would probably barely land you in the middle of the continental US I think. (Isn't sure on the distance coast to coast here)

I have such a pool of trust built up (mainly stemming from the fact that I'm a loser that never does anything :P) that I could probably do anything I wanted until I graduate (I'm a sophomore) and they wouldn't care. OF course, that's anything as long as it isn't sitting in front of the computer.
