Spoiler Tags

I've shamelessly stolen the idea from the SA forums, and implemented spoiler tags. Whenever you are talking about a movie, tv show, or book, and are afraid people might get upset with you because you reveal the ending, use a spoiler tag.

The spoiler tag is simply: [ spoiler]spoiler text goes here[ /spoiler]

Use your mouse to hover over this example to reveal the spoiler:

This text can only be read when your mouse is hovering directly over it! As soon as you move your mouse away, the text will disapear.

NOTE: Please dont use the tags for anything other than movie/tv/book spoilers. Using spoiler tags in a vain effort to be witty/funny really isnt, and its just plain annoying, and messes with the pretty layout of the forums.

Yes, I would prefer it if your post had some content that wasnt hidden. At least to give people an idea of what it is your spoiling, so they can decide if they want to read the spoiler or not.

Also, (with the exception of this thread of course) the spoiler tags should not be used for non-spoilers. I dont want to have to keep moving my mouse around to read every single little thing. Only use them if you think that people might get upset because you've ruined the ending to some movie they havent seen, etc.

Would it be possible to make it appear in a box similar to quotes? It could be difficult to tell if there is and isn't a spoiler.

I just tried it and it made things look very ugly. I'll work on it and see if there is a way to do this.

The black section on the green background looks bad. However, at least you can tell there's a spoiler there that way.

make this tag be easily accesable/ in the VB code FAQ please?
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.
2004-10-24, 10:23 PM #39
I dont think I have access to the vbcode faq. And making it easily available when you make a new post (along with the other quick vbcode options) would require modifying the actual code of the forums.
