I can't really make the spoiler green out unless I look for it...

Other than that it's an excellent addition. I wouldn't mind if it were enclosed in a box like the quote and code tags, as Roach suggested.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I'd quite like to see an addition to the rules about using tags sensibly. The number of people using separate spoiler tags around every letter is annoying. I know this is the "muck around thread" and people are unlikely to use it like that in normal use, but a general rule for all tags would help. It can then cover things like stupid font sizes, technicolour posts, etc. as well as the misuse of spoiler tags. I'm not suggesting prescribing exactly what usage is acceptable, more of a "please use them sensibly" type rule.

Okay, I've just noticed the first person to use spoiler tags in their signature.

NOTE: Please dont use the tags for anything other than movie/tv/book spoilers. Using spoiler tags in a vain effort to be witty/funny really isnt, and its just plain annoying, and messes with the pretty layout of the forums.

Good work. Very good work.

Now I must try it once. Because I doubt I will ever get the chance in real life.

No, it wont work with images because its done via style sheeting, not scripting.

And I tried putting it between <hr /> tags like the quote code, but it looked really really bad. Something with the tags not closing properly, so the rest of your post after the first tag was hidden, including your sig. I'll try to get it to work but no garuntees.

Ok, I got it to work in a way similar to quotes. Personally, I think this looks pretty ugly and is unneccesary though. Let me know what you guys think.
2004-10-25, 2:27 PM #60
I like the non-quote spoiler tags better. Really, I do.
2004-10-25, 2:28 PM #61
lol, this thread was closed when i tried to reply... hmm... i was about to start a thread about "how can we ??"

I like the spoiler tags like quotes for some things but i suppose it dosen't help when just bleeping out certain names or something during a paragraph :(

2004-10-25, 2:32 PM #62
Another slight change that I think makes it look a little bit better.
2004-10-25, 2:35 PM #63
Maybe make two versions. One would remain the same as it is now, like [spoilerblock], and another [ spoiler] would be the old way, so you could do inline spoiler tags.
2004-10-25, 2:36 PM #64
Do not like quote spoiler, change it back!
Now it doesn't seem like your own words, kinda like you quoted a spoiler.
Arrg!!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
2004-10-25, 2:37 PM #65
Yeah, I think maybe I'll make both options available.

As for the block spoiler layout, I kind of like it now. Should I change the quote layout to look like it? (Get rid of the horizontal lines, and use the css div to make it a green block)
2004-10-25, 2:38 PM #66
I like the new box for spoilers, but I like being able to put spoilers into sentences seamlessly.

2004-10-25, 2:47 PM #68
Yeah, I like the idea of having both the block and quote spolier layouts. The block is good for short and sweet spoilers and the quote is good for a big long one.
