my fingertips are sweating and i cant close my eyes for longer than 2 seconds....

i can't stop coughing either.

nearly finished day 2 of quitting smoking, the full blown withdrawl is hitting me now.... i really really wanna cigarette and i can see myself lying awake all night cos my brain is so thirsty for smoke.... apparently after 72 hours to a week, the majority of my nicotine cravings will have passed... and apparently i'm hitting the peak now.

if it doesnt feel like this for weeks on end, i think i can do it.... i hope so, more for money than health.

post what you're addicted to.

I'm not really addicted to anything (except maybe caffiene), but just wanted to say hang in there. Good for you for wanting to quit and going through with it so far.

I'm addicted to Massassi. But then, who isn't?

Good luck! Hey, how about this? Every time you get a craving, make a post on Massassi instead!

its a bit sickly but i get a confidence boost every morning when i cough up a solid lump of yellow and i can breathe slightly better.... its getting a bit tiring having 9 or 10 chest infections a year.
2004-10-25, 5:09 PM #10
it shouldn't take much more than a week to fully quit.

I know someone who quit this way and he said that nicotine patches and gum are for pussies... they get you hooked on those instead of smokes and it just takes longer. It's better to quit like you're doing, going totally cold turkey. It's not easy, but its possible if you just want to quit bad enough.

If you do manage to quit,e good job. Even if you don't then kudos for trying.

My uncle had an interesting way of quitting smoking. Whenever he bought a pack of cigarettes, he put the equivalent amount of money in a jar or something. After a year, there was enough money in the jar that he took his whole family on a vacation in Florida. Then he quit smoking. It was quite a compelling demonstration of how much it costs to smoke.

I was somewhat addicted to caffeine freshman year of college. I'm over it now, I only drink maybe 1 bottle of soda per week at the most, and 90% of the time, its caffeine free soda.
2004-10-25, 6:51 PM #17
I am glad you are quitting Spe. The investment money-wise (medical and the actual products themselves) was probably too much in the first place.

smoking sucks. i quit 3 years ago.

i'm addicted to caffeine though.

You're not a man yet! First you must download a screen saver features cigarettes dancing across the screen taunting you. :p

Well, good job on quitting! It’ll probably save your life. Or actually it won’t cause were all going to die some day, but what the hey- it’s a couple of years longer now! :) Still, if you save the money you were spending on cigarettes for a new PC, you’ll have a nice one in no time! :D

There's this new Star Wars Miniatures game, and I can't stop buying boosters! I'm spending at least $12 a week on these things, and I don't even have a job What's worse is that the Clone Wars set comes out December 3rd. Even more to buy! I won't have any money for Christmas if I don't get some control.

I think I'm addicted to laziness and procrastination. AsI'm writing this, I really should be doing my Chem Lab report and getting a 4 page essay done (It's not due tomorrow, but part of the assignment is to take it to the school writing center to clean it up, and my appointment is tomorrow. The fact that it isn't actually due until next tuesday isn't helping my motivation).

Today I went running with some people from my dorm. I'm a sprinter, not a distance runner (this was the first time, I think I ever ran that kind of distance), so it hurt, but at the end the fact that I pushed myself through my body's pleas to give up made me feel great.

The greatest feeling is the knowlege, even through the pain, that you are your own master, and your will is stronger than your desire. Good Luck.

I'm gonna take a page from your book and get to work immediately.

bloody hell, its 4.05am and i'm wide awake

not fun, buty aye, bounty hunter... good words, i've decided to stop procrastinating so much nowadays and actually do something when it comes to mind instead of making excuses that dont actually exist.

staying awake this late is allowing me to learn about american football... some bengal team who have a really ****ty record are beating denver..... means nothing to me but these quarters are the longest 15 minutes i've ever seen.

Good for you. When it's over, it'll be worth it. :)

Anyway, I'm addicted to computers, period.

the physical addiction lasts for 92 hours. After that, it's only mental.

Yeah, it's supposedly easy to fall back into the habit once you've quit, even after the physical addiction is gone. At that point it's just staying on your toes and thinking about what you're doing before you do it. I've heard the physical addition lasts little over 3-4 days usually (oh looky, Kieran said that already), so you shouldn't have long to wait. :]

I was there!

Not the biggest football fan in the world, but I had fun. GO BENGALS!

Oh, and you're right, those quarters last FOREVER. Sixty minutes total, plus a twelve-minute halftime, and I was there for three and a half HOURS.

EDIT: Oh, and good luck quitting!;)
