Ya know? Common sense? Not really that common...

go spe! go spe!

I quit last summer when the 'potters joined forces and guilt tripped me into it. Finding something to distract from the oral fixation helps, I chewed a pen most of the time. Drinking is definitely not a good idea. When you smoke and drink, they go together so well that having your first drink after quitting and not having a cigarette too is torture, that was my downfall :(

Keiran, where did you get the 72 hours stat from? I was under the impression the physical addiction lasted closer to ten days. Either way, it's a surprisingly short time, goes to show how much an 'addiction' is down to habit.

i'm at about 84 hours now and still going strong :)

i'm gonna be going out and getting into a bad state tomorrow evening though, it will be an ultimate test of will.
2004-10-27, 6:57 AM #46
That it will. I remember actually when I quit that I did get through the odd trip to the pub by gorging myself on sweets, so you could try that! But the drunker you get, the less willpower you'll have (or rather - the less you'll care about being naughty!)

GO SPE GO! GO SPE GO! *chants*

And think of it like this, if you find yourself reaching for a cigarette, reach for the heroin needle instead.

Not really indicative of anything, to be honest. I mean, I'm giving up drinking for a year, and dreamed that I got completely hammered off of a single shot of Limon, but didn't wake up wanting a drink. :)

I seem to be 'addicted' to digging emotional holes for myself - my love life is never easy

Computers and chocolate cake. I would say video games but I have definately dropped from playing 20+ hours a week to 0-2 hours.

Gotta enjoy college while you can. Cause after that, it's called alcoholism.

Edit - btw, it's simply awesome that you're trying to break that addiction.

Good job, spe! Keep it up! I'm always happy to see somebody making a (often superhuman) effort to quit smoking.

I'm not quite sure what I could say I'm actualyl adicted to, other than games and the Internet. (though I don't have problems if I'm forced to do without them for large lengths of time) However, perhaps if you threw reading into the mix with the other two, I do get problems if I cannot do any of the three for any period longer than perhaps 48 hours.
