Got suspended today
2004-11-01, 5:33 PM #1
i got Out of school suspension for 3 days today for fighting. While i was at lunch, a dude stole my bass, so i grabbed it back, he kicked me in the inner thigh twice, nearly missing my package, and punched me in the leg. Then he left me alone for about a minute, when i was talking to my friend, he ran up to me at full speed and said "Hey Chris" which got me to look up and then he kicked me as hard as he could in the face. Yeah, so i was pissed off after that so i got up through him against the wall put him in a headlock, but was unable to do anything because the school officals broke up the fight. Lucky *******. If the fight wasn't broken up i would have busted his face in.

So anyone else been suspended?

My friend's little brother got suspended for fighting the other day, it was self defense like in your case. The kid that attacked him threw a pansy-punch and broke his own fingers, and then my friend's bro hit him back and made him bleed. Serves the other kid right that he broke his fingers, sucks for my friend that he got suspended for self defense.

One of my friends got suspended for 10 days for 'Crashing the Network' with a program that is RIT confirmed not-for-hacking, they then brought it down to 2 days after they reliesed this, he was hoping for the 10 day so he could come up here to go hunting with his dad

School rules are so stupid when it comes to this stuff. About the only way to avoid punnishment is to assume the fetal position and hope the agressor goes away. I would rather defend myself.

My high school had a really wierd policy. They made you learn elementary Karate in gym class for self defense, then suspended you if you ever got into a situation where you had to use it.

Never been suspended myself, interesting story, about an hour after school 2 kids had a fight about half a mile away from the school and they got suspended for it.

right. I would rather get the s*** kicked out of me going down fighting rather than not defend myself and lose the fight AND my pride.

The schools tend to run by a bunch of worthless pinkos that believe that violence is wrong, even though its simply a matter of defending yourself.

why? Its not on school grounds. Its really none of the schools business. this is one of the reasons why I hate the big intrusive government.

I've been in one fight, but I didn't get in trouble for it. My parents always told me that if I got into a fight and I was defending myself, they wouldn't punish me even if the school did.

If it was a public school, they have no business suspending the two since it wasn't a school event. If it was a private school, they can do what they want

Ive come very close to getting banned from the computers at my school and 1 was a really stupid reason. Last year I downloaded a 65 megabyte file (GTKradiant) off school proxy which is a no no because it drags down the bandwidth so that was reasonable and I got off with just a lecture. This other time was just ridiculous though. A girl left her computer (which happens to be mine also) logged on to the network. I got on and had a little fun. I owned her basically and they got pissed off for me playing a joke when she was stupid enough to leave it logged on for a geek like me to screw around with. I never have a problem remembering to log of and neither should she.

Yet because Ive gotten lucky I am still in my good ol computer classes.

I nearly got suspended for having a cd player at lunch. It's a long, aggravating story which I don't feel like going into. My parents and I both agree it was complete bull****.

I got in a fight in 8th grade, beat the living crap out of him. He thought it would be funny to slap my friend a lot for some remark she had made earlier. I grabbed his arm when I saw what he was doing and told him to cut it out. He pulled his hand away and slapped me also, calling me stupid and telling me I didn't know my place.

I proceded to push the guy into a locker across the hall (a feat really, I'm not exactly strong) and told him to just leave us alone.

Well apparently he wasn't going to have any of that, so he comes back and throws a punch straight for my face. I dodge it to the left, and nearly trip him with my foot. He falls against the locker, pushes off, and runs at me again. He swings a punch to my right side, and I didn't react fast enough, so he hit me good right above the elbow. He follows right up with a punch to my face again, but I grab his hand (I am really good at doing this, I practiced a bit of self-defense with my best friend back then who would always come at me at the beginning of class, just for play), twisted it hard counterclockwise which pretty much brought him to his knees before he got out of my grip (refer to previous weak as hell statement). He then jumped up and tackled me into the locker. At this time, there was quite a crowd of kids, and my best friend arrives. He comes up, pulls him off me, and punches the kid square in the face a couple times, giving him a bloody nose. He then counters a couple punches the guy throws at my friend, and sends him into the ground. He jumps on him, and is just holding him down. He turns around and starts to tell me to get a teacher, but one comes running down the hall right before he can finish his sentence. My friend lets the kid go, and the teacher takes him, me and my friend down to the office, along with a couple other kids who were just watching.

I testify that the kid was just a freakin bully, the two other people agree and tell most of the story, explaining how my friend pretty much ended the fight, and how I was just protecting my friend.

The principal takes our side, lets us off, and the bully gets a 10 day suspension with 0's for all grades missed. If I recall correctly he failed 2 of his classes because of it.

OK this story is a bit confusing. Listen closelly.

This kid was hitting his girlflriend after school, so I sort of said "Hey, why don't you leave her alone." He didn't hear me correctly, and I'm not sure what he thought he heard, but he responded "What'd you call me!? I'll fing kill you!" so he takes out a pocket knife. I freaked out and ran. He followed me down the back-path of my school. So, I figured; he's going to catch me. I stopped, and he tripped over the back end of my wheelchair, rolled down the hill, and stabbed himself 3 times in the leg. He wasn't hurt, and was able enough to chase me for 4 blocks before I lost him. Finally, the next day, I get called into the office. As it happens, I guess I was beating up his girlfriend, turned around and stabbed him when he came up to me, then pushed him down the hill.

I'm 3'4", and in a wheelchair. If I can stab someone 3 times and push them down a hill, they're probably imaginary.

So after explaining the story about 30 times, it ended up being my word against he and his girlfriend (Who he threatened into telling his side of the story.) After showing some simple evidence and proof: I had a pocket knife on me at the time, why would I carry two? The time frame didn't work out: If I had stabbed him 3 times and through him down a hill, why didn't he go to the principles office sooner? An hour after school is not 3 stab wounds and a roll down a hill. If I'd stabbed him, why wasn't the massive amount of blood that was on his legs on me? Lastly: How did I "Throw" him down a hill? Nothing added up. The girl told the truth, and I STILL got suspended. I was furious. I went to the judge, and got it taken off of my record. Right now, the school is STILL kissing my *** for that suspension. This was 4 years ago, in 8th grade.

I should have been suspended in 7th grade... I beat the living sh** out of a kid with a meter stick and then almost cut his throat with a pair of scissors. He'd been harassing me all year. The teach was in 'Nam and thought the kid got what he deserved. The teacher complemented me on how I stopped myself. :s

Jesus, kirby. You have one damn knack for kicking people's asses who are stronger and more able than you. You rock. As for me, yeah, I've been suspended. But it wasn't for fighting. I've never been in a situation where I've had to fight, though I've broken one up once. I got suspended for using hardly offensive words. Yeah, yeah, you're all thinking "Freelancer's mouth got him into trouble? Stop the presses!" But I am seriously super shy IRL. I hardly ever let my mouth get me into trouble.

Basically, I drew a picture of an X-wing, a couple TIE Fighters and other stuff on a desk which was covered in butcher paper for a project. Due to the nature of the work, the paper remained on the table for a few days. I put my heart and soul into those drawings, and thought they were pretty damn good. Some idiot from a later class writes something like "Starwars sucks!" next to my drawings, and I saw this the next day, so I decided to play his little game.

I pretty much wrote "Shutup you ********." Exact words, actually. So, everything was rosy the rest of the day, until my art class the next day. Now I was happily slaving away on some project or another in art class when my teacher from 3rd period comes barging into the room, asking to speak with me. This is the teacher whose classroom I allegedly defaces with my heinous crime.

She inquired, "Did you write "Shutup you ********." on the table?

Knowing there's nothing I could possibly do but fess up, I said, "yeah." Thinking it wasn't a very big deal. I mean, ********? Come on. A short lecture was what I was expecting at the most. Needless to say, I was taken down to the vice principal's office, and he said this, I kid you not: "Kevin, we usually give 3 days of detention for this sort of offense, but since you've never been in any trouble before and you're a good kid, I'll let you off with one day."

I couldn't believe it. That was the first - and last - time I've ever been anything more than a blip on the administration's radar.

I never got in a fight, but like with most things in my life, I wish I had stood up for myself earlier in life. I wish I could go through elementary and Jr. High again. There were some serious ***holes in my schools. They weren't physically abusive, but they were extremely verbally and mentally abusive. I wish I had the chance to go back and stand up to them. To tell them to put up or shut up.

Shadow, could you file assault charges or something? The school might not like what you did, but maybe you could prove that you were acting in self defense so you'll come off clean.

very true. I feel that way too.

I am just talking about situations where, someone calls you an *******, you call then a *****, and they punch you in the shoulder. Is punching them back really self defense?

If someone is coming at you with a knife, and you have a bat, you're gonna beat him down with the bat, because otherwise he would have stabbed you. But in some stupid lunch-time fight? Most of the time in those situations you have better options, and hitting back will only start something bigger.

What time of day was it... like just after, just before, or during school hours?

My high school's policy was (and probably still is, I just graduated in May, I'm sure nothing changed much) that the school is responsible for you until the moment you walk into your front door. If a fight happens at the bus stop (waiting to go to, or on your way hoime from school) you are punishable within the guidelines... if you get into a fight on your way from the bus stop to your house, your punishable within the school's guidelines. But if you get into a fight after changing clothes and going back outside right after school, you're not able to be punished by the school.

And no, it isn't a private school. 100% public

Talk about a zero tolerance policy.

I was never suspended in high school... infact I think I only ever got one detention but that was for forgetting my note at home because I was away. I simply brought the note the next day and never had to serve the detetion... I think the only time I ever even talked to the vice-principle was when someone broke into and stole my locker... man I was a real geek in school... not much has really changed I suppose.
2004-11-02, 4:11 AM #37
I was never a good student and knew that a suspension would be the end of me, so I sucked in my pride and walked away from people that messed with me, whether I knew I could stomp them in 3.5 seconds or not. It was somewhat humiliating walking away from people that I knew I could take, but it's amazing that I was able to go through high school without fighting, considering the fact that so many people disliked me. The way that schools deal with students on this subject, is just one of the many reasons that I'll be making my best to homeschool my children, if I ever have any.

Yeah, one of my friends likes to fight in hockey, A LOT. I mean, its great to see him fighting cause you know the other kid will be bleeding all over the ice after the first punch. Then he likes to finish the game off by calling on the entire team in the parking lot (which is funny cause you wouldn't think a entire hockey team would be scared of 1 player). :) Good times hehe.

I've been in 3 fights in my life, all of them victories. When I was in 3rd grade, I got bullied by a 5th grader. He had me in a very loose headlock and I head-butted the crap out of him. Principal knew me pretty well and I got off scot clean for self defense. Fast forward to 8th grade. A kid jumped off the bleachers in an ambush for me after band class once. Bulldog style of a headlock. This kid had been annoying me all year and I snapped. I back tripped him, smacked his head off the gym floor a few times and started punching the crap out of him. It took 10 students and 2 teachers to pull me off the guy. Spent some time in the principal's office and since I hadn't been in the office for years and the kid who I beat the tar out of hadn't been in since the middle of the year, we got saturday schools. ( My mom probably helped on that because she answered the phone and busted up laughing while on speaker to the principal. Me and the other guy laughed our arses off as well).

Then my freshman year, a guy gets the notion that I somehow annoyed him in some way. He pushes me into the folded up bleachers before our gym teacher showed up and I rebounded and did a sag headlock to him and got him on the ground. I asked him if he was going to try that again, he replied in the correct answer.

Same year, while we were waiting for the bus to show up for transit to a football game, one of my teammates didn't like the idea about how I only practiced a few times a week and went to Marching band the other times. He crushed a can on my head, but he hit in the right spot where it wouldn't hurt. I just glared at him and told him he should watch out the next time in practice. A week later, he had a facemask shaped bruise on his rib cage. (It was kinda nice to see when he showed us the x-rays;))
