this healthcare thing is too confusing and for those who don't live in the U.S. can you say where you're from.

Actually, the increase in prices are largely due to increase in costs of liability insurance.

Makes sense.

But these aren't publicly-funded, nor publicly-covered. In these cases, the clinics have to either go pro bono or charge the patients.

They charge. Like they do in the States. You can buy insurance to cover the costs of such things.

The new monies were only injected about 2 weeks ago. I'd give it time.

Perhaps, as Run suggested, a combination of private, government-regulated insurance companies, then?

A new democratic provincial party had something of this sort on their agenda. I strongly believe that a two-tier system could really help out in our case. People with more money can take their business to private clinics, freeing up room for the poorer people in the public hospitals, shortening the waiting lists while still providing health to everybody.

While I disagree that it throws off the credibility of the entire interview, I concede that it does put the credibility of the person being questioned into a serious questionable light.

While I shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss the credibility of the person being interviewed, I have trouble believing what comes out of his mouth when one of the first statements he made was greatly mis-informed

The fact that pets covered by private insurance get faster treatment than humans covered by public insurance?

It's not like they're in the same hospitals.

I didn't say that complete privatized insurance was the best system. Government regulation of insurance plans offered by employers should be done, in my opinion.

That could probably help out quite a bit.

Again, our system is not perfect, but any attempts at implementation a socialized health care system in the U.S. would result in catastrophe, especially given government expenditure at this moment in time.

I completely agree. With its current deficit and global situation, I think the US has bigger fish to fry.

The problem with waiting rooms is that since it's all free, you've got people going to the hospital whenever they have itchy toes. What I'd like to see is somesort of small cover charge, say 20-30$ everytime you go see a doctor. Everything else stays free. That should scare away alot of the abusers, and care would be given to those who really need it.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Good idea, but too many people would ***** about it. A good percentage of the people of my home town are people on social aid, and I don't think all of them could afford 20$ whenever they needed to go to the hospital.

I think a combination system is the way to go with the states. That way the government can introduce an element of competition to force elements of the existing system to lower their prices.

Perhaps a fully-subsidized government plan is only available to people within a certain income bracket.
