I cannot believe there are actually people stupid enough to do the Atkins diet. It's just....how can you possibly believe eating like that is good for you? The idea of dieting solely for the purpose of getting slimmer, no matter how unhealthy it is is beyond me.

And the man was morbidly obese when he died!!!

The Atkins diet isn't horribly by itself. It's just that people are dumb.

lowering you carb intake is a good idea, but going to that extreme is dumb. It should be lowering not only carbs but also sautrated fat intake and combining that with eating food that's actually healthy for you. Not that I would ever do that, but that's the way you're supposed to diet.

You want to lose weight? Eat less crap, do more excercise. Very very simple. The Atkins basically says, cut out one thing, eat as much other crap as you like, and do nothing. It's just the attitude that this is a good thing to do to your body that I can't get my head around...

maeve ur half right the atkins diet is actually more detailed then that but we slap on the atkins A sign to foods and people think just ucz its low carbs its ok... Mr atkins was skinny his whole life he was oeveweight when he died because he was in a coma for 6 some months and gained weight because of that not because of poor lifestyle. Maeve i understand what your trying to say but the Atkins diet in itself isnt bad it can help but there are morons who think if they don't order the garlic bread with there slab of ribs are cutting back on carbs....

That's only the first 2 weeks of the diet. Afterwards you're on a reduced carb diet, which is actually pretty balanced. You'd don't do awy with cards all together.

That would be the 'South Beach Diet', hich i was on a little while ago. Carbs are only not allowed during the first two weeks, jsut to get your body away from needing them all the time. After that you simply eat reduced amounts. And fatty things, which are considered fine on the atkins diet, are not on south beach.

[Edit] And the answer to the question is no :( only ever had one, and that didn't work well. Still trying, though. I asked a girl i liked to homecomign and got a yes, but right now we're only friends.

thats funny, considering when my parents were on the diet, they felt better and looked better then they had been in a long time.

I hope you realise that how you look and feel on the outside has NOTHING to do with how much could be wrong onthe inside. Some people look great, feel great, and still have stuff happen that's bad health related to them. Being thin does not simply make your health good, you have to EAT properly to be properly healthy, notjust exercise/stay slim.
